Hello Everyone,
I am of the FF K-mount Tribe. The only digital I have is a Canon P&S.
I seem to have trouble loading film. So I buy a new used camera and try to load it. Doesn't work out to well for me. So I buy another. My neighbor a Nixonian I mean Nikon Fanatic teases me about my inferior equipment and operator issues. He says I have more cameras than pictures. He's right.
I also have CBA. It's dreadful and it leads to LBA. He (the neighbor again) thinks I should quit these habits cold which would allow me to buy a Nikon DSLR with the money I save. I dunno, I still haven't fiqured out all of the bells ,whistles and pixels with the Canon.

But alas, I join the community to learn. to express. to share.

or as described in the urban dictionary as: CBA = Can't Be Arsed.

CBA is a severe form of laziness.

Often comparable to a psychological/medical condition. CBA is most common in teenagers around the age of 16-17 years of age.
Person 1: You coming?
Person 2: Nah, I've got a severe case of CBA.

And I guess LBA is "lens buying addiction".
Maybe you will get into a tinkering mode and start interchanging parts off some of those cameras and come up with something that brews coffee.

Really though, welcome to the friendliest and most helpful photo forums and hope to see some posts and photos from you.
On thing about a dslr is you don't have to load film but I guess those memory cards could get tricky.
Why don't you have a Polaroid?

Hello all, I'm Steve. What a friendly place this seems to be! Found it while searching for advice on taking the DSLR plunge. I did a fair amount of photography in high school and college 30-odd years ago, primarily b/w with a Pentax SP500. Kids, jobs etc. intervened; I eventually got a Nikon 6006 which I liked a lot but never had the time nor concentration to take full advantage of. Most recently I've been fine with a little Canon A620 (see gallery); now kids are heading to college and I have more time for a hobby (and I have a trip to Costa Rica coming up for which I don't want to rely on point & shoot).

Hi, Steve and welcome. You are right about this being a friendly place. We have novices to pros and everywhere between.
Stuff you learned 30 years ago will come back pretty fast. The basics of film and digital are the same. You'll save a lot of money not having to have your film developed and buying a new roll all the time. A few memory cards will last a long time.
The hardest part for me to learn after coming back was what all the camera settings do and editing in photoshop. Still a LOT to learn.

If you still have some of those Nikon lenses, they may work if you get a Nikon. Probably niot for D60 to D5000 but D90 or D300 or even a full frame like the D700. Learn about crop factors.
Anyway, I'm getting wordy and just want to welcome you and hope to see some pics and any questions you have.

I'm not much behind you in years and still learning from both the young, the mature, the experienced, and the newbies here.
I've always admired those that can do so much with wood. Myself, I have a hard time cutting a straight line unless I want it to be a curved line of course.

Hi! I'm Bob Mielke and this is my first post on this forum. It took a little effort to track down where to post this but I managed to get here.

Where do I start? I'm a nearly 61 year old fart that's been in photography since I was 21. It started way back in my Air Force days stationed in Misawa, Japan. I bought my first SLR, a Canon FTQL, and started shooting like crazy. After all, I was in a beautiful strange land thousands of miles from my home in the Midwest. I also got my film for free since the B52 squadron had moved off base leaving tons of reels of 35mm mapping film behind. BTW it was ASA 2. Now that's incredibly fine grain stuff.

I eventually went on to become a portrait & wedding photographer until I tired of the business side of collecting monies for my work. I've been a serious amateur ever since. I bought my first digital SLR just 3 years ago, a Nikon D40X, which has since been replaced by a Nikon D90.

I have three hobbies that go quite well together, motorcycle touring, photography & computers. I actually work for Intel Corp. in Hillsboro, OR making their computer chips. I ride a Piaggio BV250 Touring scooter, a Triumph Rocket III touring motorcycle and drive a Smart ForTwo Pure car. I do enjoy my toys.

On the photography hobby I love landscape photography and live in one of the most beautiful states in the U.S., Oregon. I've ridden my bikes 76,000 in 4 years of living here covering, Oregon, Washington & California. I will ride anywhere, any distance for a good pizza or good Chinese food. My favorite Chinese restaurant is in Fortuna, CA and my favorite pizza parlor is Tutabellas in Seattle, WA.

Hi, my name is Kelli. I am new to taking pictures. I've always loved to look at other people's work, but just started taking my own pictures. I found this forum because my grandmother just gave me a Konica Hexanon AR 50mm F1.7.Of course there is no manual to go with it. The camera probably hasn't been used for years, but it I would really like to know how to use it. I have a Sony Cyber-shot dsc-h20. I look forward to learning from all of you.

Thanks to old clicker for pointing me in the right direction.

I'm Jim, 64 YO, I've been taking pictures as long as I can remember. Dad had done quite a bit of portrait work, still had some chemicals and equipment for B&W roll film. He bought me a Kodak brownie for my 8th birthday. IIRC it used 127 film? Verichrome pan? We'd develope the film, using taped up closet for a dark room. Contact prints would allow us to see the pics, then the best were printed at the local drugstore. A boy with his Kodak, sounds like a title for a book!

I have an olympus D-380 that's at least 8 years old. It still works just fine, but it's still just a point & shoot. I also have a Yashica FX-D SLR that also still works, or it would if I bought a couple batteries.

My reason for being here is I just put on layaway a Canon T2i DSLR. I need to read a bunch of stuff to get back up to speed on how to use a new toy. I'm sure it will come back to me, as I did some good work with the Yashica.
