Hi all, My name is Lou.

I am a mother of three children under 5 (4 year old, twin 2yo's, all girls) who try's to squeeze a few minutes of photographic sanity into my otherwise chaotic days!

I aprecciate and can take CC, love to get feedback so I can constantly evolve with my photography.

I mostly take portraits of my and my friends children, have photographed a couple of friends weddings, and would love to get into on location engagement/couple photo shoots!!

For myself enjoyment, I take macros with my Canon MPE065mm lens (my other baby!!)

I have been on a few forums recently and been disapointed with the overactivity compared to lack of CC on images, Hopefully this site will be different!

Well, not totally new to photography, but new to caring about what my photos look like, and doing what I can to make them better ;) I have 2 spunky little girls that are a blast to take pictures of that are 1 and 2 years old, and a disabled veteran hubby that I take care of. I'm also a clinical supervisor for substance abuse treatment as my full time job. Hello, I am also a new member. I have yet to get a digital camera, but have been using a simple film SLR for years. I like to shoot trains, and even have taken pictures at a NASCAR race in Kansas City. I have also shown up at fires, and one time even had one of my pictures in the a local newspaper (although it was about 20 years ago). I usually shoot 100, 200, 400, and 800, but also BW (400) when shooting a steam engine. Years ago when shooting the UP steam engine 3985, I once shot a roll of 24, with my manual advance/focus, and changed lenses, in less than two minutes -- in the middle of the winter (I sat in the snow for 2 hours waiting for them). When shooting things that are moving, I set the shutter as high as I can get it.

But alas, I have a problem.

My camera shutter button has frozen, and will not go down. Also, the advance tab bounces back.

I would like to get into a digital camera, but would still like to use my PK mount manual lenses. I do not have a lot of funds, which is why I do not have a digital SLR in the first place. I would like to use my old lenses so I do not have to replace them, and they are still good. Any ideas? I am still willing to use a film SLR, but it still needs to be a PK/K mount. Any advice would be helpful.

I have been shooting photography and video for some time, and I am enrolled in a summer-school class where we are to come up with a brief business plan for our future photography/videography ventures.

Well, I am going to build a brand around shooting stills and video simultaneously, and I was wondeirng if anyone might have any recommendations as how best shoot hd video and stills at the same time throughout the shoot. Who are the leaders in this field?

Do any of you mount two cameras together (Such as a video camera and dslr), or set up dedicated video cameras or still cameras DSLRs on tripods? What brackets/systems/methods do you use for mounting stills and video cameras, and/or shooting stills and video together at the same time?

And of course, I will also be including a section on audio in my business plan, so any tips would rock!

Just looking for some ideas! & if I use your original idea, I'll be more than happy to provide you a reference!

Hello Everyone! I wouldn't say I'm really new to photography, been taking pictures since high school (a looong time ago lol) because I have always really enjoyed it. However, after being layed off last year I decided this was the time to try to pursue my passion. I have had a great response, but still feel very amateurish, which is not a good feeling when people are paying you to take their photos! Somehow I seem to always pull it off but unfortunately too many times it's only because out of necessity I have learned Photoshop! Not the way I want to shoot, having to fix things because I don't really know what I am doing! I have read and read and watched tutorials, but what I really need is someone to tell me what I am doing wrong (or right if that happens lol). I am here today because I just did a baseball shoot this morning and I am so frustrated with the pictures... and I have baseball shoots the next 2 Saturdays also! I hope some constructive criticim can give me some guidance. I know no one personally to help me.. I'm so happy to have found this site, and the 'Critique forum'!!!

I use a Sony DSC F717 5 meg camera that I've had a few years. I got it to take automotive closeup stuff but, of course, take all kinds of pictures. Most recently I used it to capture a nest of house finches who I watched over a period of several months. I never got my bird pictures right...just don't have enough lens power. So while hanging out here, will work to better understand camera technology appropriate for birding.

But I have had success in taking some nice photos of automotive details that I've used in articles that have been published in both technical and popular magazines...so I'm doing something right when it has to do with detail.

It uses a memory stick but I learned today that those are no longer made and now there is a memory stick PRO DUO that is not compatible with the Sony F717. Boo!

So look forward to learning from many of you who suspect have vast amounts of photography experience.

Hello everyone. Thirty years ago, I purchased a Nikon F3 with a Nikkor 35mm 1:28 and Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm 1:35 Macro zoom. It has served me well . . . love that camera. As a serious computer graphics artist, six years ago, I decided I needed Digital camera capacity so I purchased a Nikon Coolpix 2000. I figured I should ease into the digital image with modest cash outlay since I was still using my F3. However, it is time for me to move to DSLR. I am interested in purchasing a Nikon D7000 and wonder if my old Nikkor and Vivitar lenses will work with the new camera. I am aware that using old lenses with the digital SLR is not optimum, but it will help, initially, in that I can use the camera for a while without having to expend large sums on new lenses. What do you think?

I believe the memory stick is still made or that there is an adapter. Try the Sony forum.

Stick around and you will probably get the help you need - you may even pick up a little patience.
