    Re: Welcome!!

    Hi - I'm DDK...
Actually my name is Diane Dupuis-Kallos but that's way too long... I work as a secretary in a high school in Montreal - so the kids started calling me ddk for short and it stuck...

I've always enjoyed taking photos - but I've been taking it much more seriously in the past 3 years. Took courses, workshops, read whatever I could get my hands on - drove other photographers nuts with questions - and then practiced practiced practiced. I feel comfortable saying I'm no longer a beginner... LOL!

I shoot with a Fuji S5200 10x zoom point and shoot which I really love but I know it has it limitations and although I don't want to (due to the weight, carrying around extra lenses, the dirt on the sensor, etc. etc.) I figure my next step will be a dslr... but not yet! Gotta keep buying those lotto tickets!

Thanks to AG for telling me about this place! I can't wait to have more time to explore and meet new people.

    Bye for now!

    Re: Welcome!!

Hello. I'm new here. I'm looking to learn more about photography and hopefully take some better pictures.

I currently mostly take pictures of foster cats with the purpose of helping them find homes, and would like to start taking pictures of my garden and food I cook. Not super exciting, but I'm happy with a relatively boring life.

My current camera is a Kodak DX6340 Zoom, and I'd like to upgrade in the near future - it's about 10 years old, so I assume almost anything made in the last couple years will be a huge upgrade!

I'm looking forward to learning lots and taking pictures.

Hello DDK! Nice to have you aboard! We look forward to seeing your pictures! But, most importantly, we expect a whole bunch of "dirt" on your friend Alison here. She's a real troublemaker!

I hope you'll take the time to put something in the People thread about yourself. It's a great place to learn about our other members, too.

    Re: Welcome!!

Hi guys, so well for as long as I can remember I loved playing around with cameras. My mom used to get so mad at me because I would find where she hid hers and I would use up all the film just to take random pictures. And that is basically what I have been dong for quite some time however people kept telling me how much they liked my pictures (which were just point and shoot photos) that I decided to take it a bit further and try to actually understand photography.

    Hello

I'm not sure if this post will go through. Every time I try to create a post it tells me I have to have 5 posts to post. Hopefully this can be the start of my 5 posts, haha.

My name is Julie, and I'm new to photography. I love to take photos of people. Unfortunately, people in general don't like to have their photo taken. I manage to get some sneak pics taken here and there until people catch on to me and then they hide. I resort to taking photos of my animals, or some landscaping, but it doesn't thrill me at all. My favorite thing to do of all time, is take photos of people and then give the photos to them if they turn out. I like to see people smile and enjoy them, like I do! What I'd like from this forum, is to gain more perspective by getting feedback on how I can improve. I would also like to learn how to take photos of activities where I can't keep my camera still (like watersports activities shot from the small speedboat, where there is barely enough room for a tripod which seems like it wouldn't help anyways). I don't have photoshop or anything like that. I'd love to, but it scares me too, in that it might be too complicated with "layers" etc. I did recently get picassa because a friend told me about it, and it was free.

Thanks for reading! I hope this post works!
