Black & White downhill mountain biking

I had the pleasure to spend the weekend in Duluth, Mn to attend the Greenman Festival. This years downhill mountain bike race was a huge success with three times the amount of riders from last year.

    This is fantastic.

The off-vertical on the right bugged me, the posts and chair lift.
Until I looked at what it would be if it was all straight and "proper"
    BORING !

The only thing I'd chnge to make this even more stark is to clone out the two spectators and ehnance the feeling of lonelines that this gives me with the empty chair lift.

Being a mountain biker I think this is a good photograph.
    Why?
It gives a feeling for what hucking and or racing is about in an artisitc way.
It has a lot going for it!
I like the line from the chair lift, and all of the silhouettes.
    The edges/boarder works too!
Gives the photograph the artsy feel.

Thanks guys. I like how the image can give a sense for different people. Most of my shots from the race were more your usual mountain bike action photos but I really like how this one looked. It was at the very end and the sun was setting so the shadows were really popping out.

Very nice image. Good to get something a little different like this silhouette here on the sports board. I agree with paul that if the two guys in the background disappeared it would give the photo a stronger appeal. Good to see a post by you hope to see a lot more.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??
