Question Sony DSC V3 suitable for mountain biking?

Has anyone used the Sony DSC V3 digital camera for mountain biking or road biking? I want to buy this camera to shoot lots of pictures on my bike trips

Personally, I think this camera is overkill for a camera to take along while riding. I always look for something small, light and with the fewest number of moving parts to damage. If you're looking for fine art shots, maybe. But if you're just looking too take pictures of nice views or your riding buddies or whatever, a more compact 3 or so megapixel camera will work better.

Maybe buy something like a Sony - DSC-S40, and with the money you save, buy me one too! Seriously though, if I had the money to spend I'd buy something like a Sony DSC-T1, put it in a zip-lock, slip it in the jersey pocket, and go!

FishMan has a point. But it really depends on what you expect of your ride photos. If you just want a record, a decent 3 megapixel camera and good technique will do the job. But if you want frameable or publishable stuff, you'll need something better. We each need to decide what's appropriate for our own needs. I often ride with my EOS 10D, a couple of lenses, and a flash. And I do that at places like Whistler and Moab. But having the option to ride with a point-and-shoot is nice. And if that point-and-shoot is fast and has a great sensor, even better. I haven't tried it, but I expect the V3 would make a great ride camera. The size is right, the sensor is awesome, and it's supposed to be fast. It won't be as fast and accurate as a digital SLR, but your trading some quality for portability. And that's fair.

If you haven't checked, there are three detailed reviews of the Sony DSC-V3, here >>

We also just got a Sony DSC-W7 for review. Should have something posted in a couple of weeks.

Hope that helps. If you want a co-sign, I say go ahead and get it
