Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum. On here because I'm having trouble with high speed video on my new Elixim FC-100 and a Class 6 SDHC card. At 210fps, the video starts getting "skippy" if the recording lasts more than about 5 seconds. I'm trying to record my golf swing and it'd be nice to be able to do 2 in a row instead of having to run back to the camera to ensure a shorter video. I would like to be able to edit out the dead parts in the middle in post editing.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I am a bit shy. I am basically a snapshooter. I have 3 point and shoot cameras. Each is different from the others in that one is a bridge camera, one a travel zoom, and one a simple p & s with 2 auto modes. I am trying to become a better photographer. I shoot primarily sooc which helps me to approach photography more carefully. I can't correct my mistakes later in an editor. It has helped me greatly to understand my cameras' capabilities, and my short comings. My photos are rather boring when compared to photos done in photoshop. But, that would be expected. If they were better who would buy photoshop? Also, my subject matter is just ordinary things I can find in my neighborhood in Los Angeles, California which is where I live. I would say NEVER believe that you are limited by your type of photography. Those who use post processing to improve their images do so by putting in hours of hard work. If you would rather put that work into perfecting your images SOOC with the equipment you have, then there is no reason you cannot equal or better the PP results. Look at the images on this site. There are some from $12.95 toy cameras that blow me away.

Hey everyone!!
My name is Peter, and I live in Florida. I never really used to take pictures, but that was only because I never had a camera. I recently bought a camera because I was going on a trip to Brazil, so now I want to get more into photography! Right now I have a Fujifilm s2940, which is the Wal-mart version of the s2950. It suits my purposes fine for now, and it takes quite nice pictures actually. I just wanted to introduce myself and I have one question right now: If I were looking at DSLRs, looking at used cameras, would it be better to get an older professional camera, or a newer consumer camera if they were around the same price? Although the professional camera might have less megapixels, it seems like the fact that it is a higher end camera to start, it would take better pictures, but that is just my assumption.

Welcome to PhotographyREVIEW.com, Peter. No need to apologize. Long posts and questions are encouraged. How are you going to learn if you don't ask? Your question is actually a tricky one because there's a lot that goes into a a professional camera - build quality, speed, reliability, etc. And you may not benefit from a lot of that stuff. Plus, some older cameras will favor that stuff over image quality. So my suggestion would be to invest in a newer entry-level digital SLR. Even if you bought the cheapest digital SLR it would be a huge leap in quality over your current point-and-shoot

Thanks for the response!! I doubt I'll be buying a DSLR anytime soon, mostly because I have other things that I need to put my money towards before I do so, but I might as well start my research so that by the time I get one, I know what I'm looking for (somewhat). My current camera is perfectly fine for now, I am happy with it, and I also don't want to, in some ways, waste the money spent on it if I'm just going to go buy a better one so soon. I usually research potential purchases insanely due to a paranoia that I will regret it and wish I got something different... While I do that research, I will go out and use my current camera to make it seem like I know what I'm doing before spending money on a "better" camera. :thumbsup:

Bonjour, tout le monde! I'm a complete beginner at photography, but have been a long time fan of the art. I'm finally now in a position to purchase a DSLR and I'm just doing the research and price comparisons for my first camera. I getting ready to go to my 4th NASCAR race in November, and I'm not satisfied with the pictures I've been able to take at the previous races I've attended. When I spent $1,100.00 on a digital camera back in 2004, I thought at that price it should be able to take great pictures of all kinds, including actions shots... I was dead wrong!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning from this forum and when able, to contribute to it as well.

Hello everyone, my name is Chris, I am known in the digital world by Uber_Tiny. I own and maintain my own tech forums over at geforce3d.net. I have Been watching these forums for a while, but I just never signed up. I've been taking photos here and there for probably 15 years, but never really got in to it heavily. One of my first cameras was a 35mm Pentax K1000. I Loved the camera and had a lot of fun with it. Things happen in life to a point where I didn't have time nor money to put in to a new system for a good 5 years. Recently the spark got reignited and I found my self picking up a Lumix FZ100 which is a very nice point and shoot. I have been very pleased with the camera and I have had a lot of fun familiarizing myself again to all the camera functions I once knew with even more of them to learn.

I need to find a cheap yet decent camera that has good detail of taking a picture of a text message off of a phone. I'm in a middle of a divorce and I just learned I don't have to type it all out as it has taken me several hours to just do a few...Please let me know of any, I'm somewhat familiar with the nikon brands.

I'm confused, why do you need to takke picutres of a text message from a phone? shouldnt any camera be able to do that fairly well?

I would like to ask if anyone here is familiar with camera repair. I have a pretty decent point and shoot that I've been using for about a year, however some of the buttons stick a bit and now the record button doesn't actually record. the camera seems to be working fine, I can change the settings and I can see everything fine in the LED screed, the button itself just doesn't seem to work! I'd REALLY like to salvage my camera if the problem is minor.

IF NOT, I have been eying a new DSLR,all the clubs on my campus use then and it's hard to argue with the quality you get from them. I would want it for video purposes so I often get a little confused when looking around at cameras.I've heard the t2i is a good place to start but the 900 dollar price tag is a little rough to deal with. My budget is nice and tight, if anyone has any information on a beginner level DLR I'd be very appreciate,.
