Nice website Greg. I think you'll be teaching us a thing or two (well, me at least). I'm a fairly infrequent poster here, but I'm glad to have you aboard.

    Re: Welcome!!

Hello, I've lurked here a bit but finally decided to create an account. I've enjoyed photography since I was a kid in the 70's and my dad would set his old Pentax up for me so I could take some photos with it. Ever since I have enjoyed photography and even make a buck or two at it every now and then these days.
Anyway, I'm mostly here to learn and share. Some of you may know me from Flickr (mattb.net), PentaxForums (mattb123), or Twitter (mattbnet).
I like shooting lots of different subjects from landscapes to sports (outdoors adventure sports preferably) to events, to portraits, and even the occasional still life. If the scene has drama, contrast, color, emotion, mystery, geometry, wonder, or anything else that catches my eye I'll shoot it!

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing some of your images. "drama, contrast, color, emotion, mystery, geometry, wonder, or anything else that catches my eye" sound like good reasons to me. - Terry

    Hello
Found this forum by accident while looking at a lens review , had a look around ,liked it , as it seems that there is feedback , so I thought I would join up

Basically Ive had a DSLR (canon eos450) for a couple of years , but I dont think that Im getting full use out of it , so I hope to learn and maybe get some insipration ....and improve.... find out a bit more about editing as well

Im a happy snapper mostly into landscapes ,panos and stuff

    Re: Welcome!!

cheers .......... already seen some photos on here I wouldn't mind trying to replicate , just to lift mine a bit more than tourist level ...

heh .... I've been looking for a place to park up , that has a bit of interaction ........ , I've recently joined two other forums in the last 3 weeks,to be honest , but after an initial welcome , they seem a little void of any interaction ...although the photos have been good ,just sort of post and disappear .... not going to get too much progression out of that I guess..

    lots of useful info here

    Re: Welcome!!

Hi everyone. My new CoolPix P500 should be here next week. My first Nikon was a Nikkormat in 1969. I have dabbled with cameras since then. My last few cameras have been Olympus point and shoot models. I got the "itch" for a new camera and found that Olympus no longer makes a point and shoot with a view finder! A must for me. So, some shopping and I found the P500, which looks like the perfect fit for me.

I know this is not the forum for help, but maybe someone will take pity on me? I wonder what affect sdhc card class has on camera operation. Would I notice any difference between a class 4 card and a class 10 card with regard to time required between shots?

    Thanks for any insight, Jim

Hi! New member here - I am a beginning/recreational photographer. I have always taken a ton of pictures, but decided about a year ago that it was time for me to take quality pictures as opposed to quantity. Looking forward to lots of tips and feedback!

I am new here. I have been shooting for over a year now. I started with a Nikon D5000 and just recently upgraded to a D7000. I really love the camera and have been shooting indoor Volleyball. My current set up is Nikon D7000 and using a 50 mm f1.4. I would love to share some shots once I get enough posts in. I would like a little critique from some of you more experienced folks. Look forward to meeting some of you on here.

lol, I'll have pity... It has an effect only to the extent that you exceed your cameras built in image and file buffer. So, no diff between shutter cycle rate, until you have flooded your cameras buffer - in which case, you are taking too many pictures and should slow it down anyway
