Well allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lamar and I've been a member of the board for a short time frame. I'm new to digital photographhy so I'm a super novice. I see there are some great eyes on this board and I'm always ready to hear some honest constructive criticism about my eye.
I'll post some of my images in the near future so I can grow in this art
Hi All
Thought I'd hop in and introduce myself, I'm a Kiwi and new to DSLR photography only had 450d for 5 weeks, so real newbie. After viewing the photographic results of a holiday in the UK last year I realized that it was a long way to go to take rubbish pics so made up mind to improve skills. I found this forum and like the non snobby, friendly attitude of the members and hope to improve skills by dipping into the huge pool of knowledge available here. Hope to show some results later
Cheers Pete

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...
My name is Ashton, I am a registered nurse and i work in a surgical ICU in Mississippi, USA. I race dirt bikes (KTM 200) in my spare time. I am married to an incredible young lady who is also a nurse in another ICU. We are expecting our first child in September and we are very excited.
I currently own a Sony point and shoot 7.2 megapixel camera but within the month i will make my final decision on my new DSLR either Nikon or Canon. I am researching which these cameras and reviews on your site and a few others.
I am a Pisces with a great sense of humor so if you think something i said could possibly be for humorous purposes, it probably is.!!!!!
Hope to learn a bunch and get into photography full swing this year.

Hi all-
My name is Dave, I live in North GA, USA, and I only just discovered this forum. I don't have as much time to devote to photography as I would like, but I love it. I used to do a lot of B&W darkroom work in the distant past- 70's and 80's, but these days I have a Pentax K10D and K20D and some lenses. Anyway, looks like a great place!

I currently have a Nikon N70 and I'm looking at going digital in the next few weeks, so please forgive me if I start asking a lot of "noob" questions

Sorry to have to do this, but I have spent about two hours poking around this site trying to figure out how to make a new post. I can't even figure out how to find the introduction forum in order to make my first post there either. Can you tell me how this works? It looks like all I'm able to do is post a reply. Well I don't have a reply, I have a question that I need to pose to everyone in the form of a new post.
Thanks for any help.
Hello, Hepcat and welcome
When you open the forums, you will see a list of different forums on the left starting with 'viewfinder' which is a general forum and sort of the social place. When you open that or any other forum you will see a list of threads in chronological order with newest first, except for the stickys. If you open the viewfinder forum, the second sticky is a welcome thread where many but not all introduce themselves.
Also, when you open a forum such as viewfinder or 'help' or 'photo-critique or any of the others, at the top of the list of threads on the left is a blue button saying "new thead"
Click it and you will be starting a new thread.
Since I don't know what your question is, I can't tell you which forum to post it in but don't sweat getting it in the wrong one as one of our helpful moderators will move it for you if necessary.
Good luck and hope to hear from you.
My name is Matt Mosh, I've been dabbling in photography since I was a kid. Recently my interest became much more sparked so to speak.
I've been using a Fuji S1 or more often my S5000 since it's smaller and more convenient. Just last week though my dad gave me his Minolta XG-1 that has been collecting dust for quite a few years.
he purchased it just before I was born, and has given it to me just before my twin boys will be born. It is exciting in a lot of ways heh. The XG-1 took pictures of me when I was a baby and now it will do it for my kids.
It has really got my interest back in taking pictures. I hadn't used a film camera since a class in high school. It has been about 10 years or so. So after wrecking a few rolls a film and fiddling with a fussy advance lever I couldn't be more excited.
After reading some threads here, I'm stoked to become a part of this community and learn much much more, get some good advice and meet some interesting people.

I live in Southampton in the U.K and have just found your interesting forum where I have already spent a fair bit of time browsing and expect to learn a lot from you guys

From another Terry, located in the States, is Tel a common shortening of Terry in the UK. I've been called Terr, but I've never heard Tel.

Hi Terry
Tel has been around over here for a long time (the name not me ,well not quite!)I believe it became popular after it was used in the TV Series "Minder" (starring Denis Waterman & George Cole) which was a hit on UK TV in the Seventies (I think)
