    Bird question for Paul

So we are getting hummingbirds at our hummingbird feeder outside the living room window. (which we id'ed in our bird book, ruby throated hummingbird). The box the feeder came in says that if the feeder goes dry, your hummingbirds will not ever come back. We bought the store-brand sweetener stuff, and we thought it would be red, but it's clear. Can we put food coloring in there? Or will that kill the birds?

And how is this photo related? We are trying to get a pic, no such luck yet

    Thank you!

clear is fine!!!! When I was in Sedona Az people had 1/2 and full gallon feeders full of CLEAR that they refilled DAILY(50-100 birds a day EASILY)

as for getting an image ;)

I found that leaving a tripod mounted camera close to the feeder got them used to it as did sitting VERY still and watching them from 10 feet.

a cable release through your window would be the easiest way to do it. use blinds to hide you and prefocus and frame...... CLICK, CLICK
