    1 portrait, 1 sunset

    Hello,

Here are a portrait and a sunset I shot 2 days ago, what do you think? I did some photoshop work.

    Hey Seb,

I like them both but I am wondering if the portrait is too dark (on the left side) or not. Overall, the picture is really nice but it seems that I am missing some details due to the lighting.

Your sunset looks superb to me. I like the rays of light radiating arround the cloud. The colours are very nice too. Is this an assembly of few pictures or a crop from one single shot??

I'd be curious to know what was your photoshop work on them.

    regards

    One of the others Seb...

I like the sunset shot. I wish we have more sunsets like that where we live. Did you use a 20mm or an 18mm lens for this shot?

    Thx

You may be right, the portrait is a bit dark, but I modify this one using another monitor, and it was brighter... For the sunset it is a crop of a single image, I changed levels, white balance and I pushed saturation, I got a 10D and it seems that is has trouble reproducing the color I saw this night? For the portrait I applied a black layer and I tweaked intensity and I added some black brush strokes.

    Thanks for your feedbacks.

Nice shots. I like the in your face face but wish that the sharpest focus was on the eyes rather than the bridge of the nose/eyebrows.

The sunset is fantastic with very nice silhouettes.

    Well Seb, since you asked...

To be quite honest with you...

Hmmm, how do I put this?

I think they are both gorgeous shots!

    Hey, you did ask!

The sunset is stunning. I'd make a few large prints, frame them and see if you can sell a few to the local picture shop in the mall or wherever. Doubt you'd have any trouble at all.

The portrait is very nice in most respects. My personal taste is that I wouldn't zoom in so much, as the closer in you get the more you risk the shot becoming about features on a face, rather than the face as a whole. Only MO of course, and I'm not a portrait photographer so I could be completely wrong. I just prefer less of the extreme closeup look for faces.

    Thx

Thanks to all of you for your nice feedbacks, I agree the lack of sharpness on the eyes or the portrait is kind of disturbing, next time I will try to have it sharper.

    Thx

The sunset is AMAZING, and the portrait interesting.
I agree w the focus/lack thereof on the eyes, it would have definitely made the shot better, but it's still interesting. How does the subject like it?
The photo of the sunset has me blown away, it is simply beautiful!!

    Take care, Eva
