    Re: Welcome!!

Hey everybody. I just bought a new Olympus E-510 (with the two lens kit) with help from reading this forum. All I really wanted was a new P&S to replace my old 2MP Kodak, but read up on DSLR's and realized I could get that kit for a bargain. I'll probably be asking a bunch of questions by next week. I've lived in St. Louis (which can be boring and lame) for all my life. I am considering moving to another state or country. (I've been day trading stocks for about 5 years and can take that "career" virtually anywhere.)

Anyway. I've already got some questions I need to post in the Olympus forum.

Hi and welcome! Actually, any place can be boring and lame. I've lived here for most of my life and a lot of times I think the same thing - but a friend who is a photographer comes to visit occasionally and sees all kinds of stuff to shoot right by my house. The trick is to look past "boring and lame" because I think the best chance for an excellent photograph will come from a place you can visit any day you want - not the once in a lifetime vacation halfway around the world. Check out some of the books by Freeman Patterson for some inspiration.

Hello PR. I am new to the forum thing, but not new to photography. I have used a 35MM Cannon for years and purchased a Nikon D50 about a year and a half ago. I am not a pro by no means, and don't even call myself very good. I am told, from time to time, I can take good photos. But even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. I don't have a lot of time as I work 2 full time jobs. But I do enjoy the time that I do have to spend with my Nikon.

Welcome Bakerman! We all start out as serious amateurs and we build our skills over time. I'm sure your shots are better than you let on. If you're looking for a place to learn, check our How to section for some basic pointers. I think you'll find our forums very friendly and a great place to ask questions and learn!

    Hi,

I'm Jason. I got my first, and currently my only digital camera in Dec 2005. A canon PowerShot A520. I like this camera a lot but I must admit I am definitely not a pro at picture taking. A friend told me about this site and I thought I would join it and hopefully learn a bit from you guys. Eventually I want to buy a digital SLR camera of some sort, probably another canon but I want to learn as much as I can about my current cam and how to squeeze better pictures out of it than I am currently.

    Re: Welcome!!

    Hello all.

My name is Core and I reside in northwest Tennessee. I'm currently a student at a local university and I work at a hardware store. I've been around cameras, photographers, and photography my whole life. My uncle works for Kodak and my neighbor runs a photography studio. One could say I'm addicted to photography.I love taking photos of wildlife and landscapes, but I will use my imagination on anything interesting. I am a huge Canon fan, owning a few Canon products. I've been browsing this site for a couple months and decided to join. This looks like a great place and I can't wait to share knowledge with you all.

I just want to say THANKS for this wonderful website - and all the great support I get from sharing this exciting and ever-changing art medium. I was reared in Silver, and had a difficult transition over to digital - but with the talent and super critique here, I am finding my transition from film to digital a small issue now. I will continue to share my images, my responses and my friendship with all. Thanks to you Moderators - and the great experience you bring us all!

    Hi!

I'm Silje, a Norwegian, living in Kansas City.
I am a tattoo artist at a tattoo shop, tons of fun! I've been into photography for a couple years, but just started taking it more seriously

Gonna take a creative photography class in April, super excited about that!
I figured this would be a good place learn some new things, and get some inspiration

Welcome Silje, this is definetly the place to learn and be inspired by other photogarphers, and to inspire others as well. You'll find this to be one of the most helpful and friendliest places to be on the web. Working as a Tattoo artist in a Tattoo shop does sound like good fun . Looking forward to seeing some of your works.

    Hello All!!
I'm new to photography and can't wait to get some feedback on my pics. I'm currently taking a small course online and I have a kodak easyshare z740 nothing spectacular and it's not great but it's all I have for the time being. I was given a suggested to come here from my instructor and I am sure that I will be pleased that I followed her advice.

    Hello fellow photo nuts!

I'm new here but I have been into photography for a long time. I am an amateur photographer and I shoot about 500 pics a week... Primarily using my Nikon D80 these days.

This looks to be a nice place to be.

Well, after many trials and tribulations, I finally decided to dump my old handle, and return as Addies Granddaddy. For whatever reason, the login page kept kicking me out, telling me my username/password wasn't being accepted.....so.......exit swmdrayfan and enter Addies Granddaddy! This one fits better anyway.

I haven't done much in the way of photography these past few months, other than taking oodles of pictures of my granddaughter, Addison.

Time to look around and get re-acquainted.

    Re: Welcome!!

    Hello Everyone!
I have been lurking around here for awhile and finally decided it was time to join in the fun. I was part of another forum, but I quickly got the impression that if you weren't packing a several thousand dollar camera or had your own website then you were clearly not up to their status!
I recently purchased a Nikon D40 ( complete compulsive purchase, wish I would have researched a little more) and am trying to become fluant in manual mode I would consider myself more of a snapshot kinda person, giving very little thought to settings and creative exposures...which is why I am here LOL! I really enjoy photography and would really like to learn more and become better!

I can't to get to know everyone more!

    Hey Everybody!
I just found this forum. I love posting and reading photography forums and am a member of three others but sometimes I feel like a thread killer! lol
I am a Canon shooter and shoot mostly sports and my kids of course. I have been chasing NASCAR for about 4 years now and love it but also love Basketball, Football and Soccer. I am definitely looking for comments and suggestions on how to make my shots better. I never tire of learning and just when you think you have it, there is something to make it all better!
I hope I can be useful here as I am always willing to help when I can.

    Wink Re: Welcome!!

Hello I am amateur photograph since 1975. I mainly took pictures of our kids as they were growing up. I had a Minolta SLR until 5 years ago and then I move to a Canon G2 for documenting our vacation.

I will be retiring in March of 2009 and traveling through the USA. I am looking to buy a digital SLR to document our travels. I love digital photograph and I am ready to take the next step. I have been reading a lot of information on digital SLR's and I need input from experience photographer for amateur photographer.

I will be traveling in a 5th wheel camper to the Grand Canyon, northern California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Canada, Wyoming, Montana, South & North Dakota.

I will be looking for a serious digital SLR to document our travels. I hope to get unbiased information to determine by purchase.
