    Took A Trip Out West...

    Western North Carolina that is.

The wife had a conference to attend on Friday, so I dropped her off and went to Pilot Mountain. I spent three hours hiking and photographing, and came back with 98 images on the Coolpix 5700. Here are a few that I liked.

All have been reduced to 640 pixels, except the last one which has been cropped. It's a crappy shot, only good for an ID - not that I need one, this is a Turkey Vulture. A coolpix does not make a good birding camera!

    Nice countryside

I enjoy pictures like this. I love the greenery and overlooking an area. Oh, and I like the turkey vulcher too. Made me chuckle. I do have to admitt that they are very graceful in flight. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Toot! I'm glad you liked the shots. It is gorgeous country out there, and I love getting out there every chance I get.

Turkey vultures are very graceful in flight. But up close, they are UGLY birds. :-P
It also occurred to me that I needed to add a caveat to my statement about the coolpix camera. A Coolpix does not make a good birding camera - IN MY HANDS! I'm sure Paul could get some awesome shots with one, but don't look for any decent birds shots out of it from me!

    Thanks for the commets Toot.

Hey, it was an educational conference for her. And she learned from it. And got paid to be there (by her office).

I made the sacrifice (good thing you can't see me trying to keep a straight face here) of taking Friday off and driving her out there Thursday night. We stayed in a motel, and the next morning I dropped her off at her conference.

Since I had six hours to kill, I spent about an hour driving to Pilot Mountain, and another hour driving back. Three hours spent hiking and photographing in between. And being the sensitive soul that I am, I was back about an hour before I had to be. Which worked out well since she finished about 10 minutes after I got there.

Every woman should have a man that's this good to her! IMHO! ;-)

DUDE...... hate to be blunt, but MICHELLE would have made the same sacrafice to shop(with her $$ too )...DOES THAT MEAN I have the best GF?

Getting PAID to drive you wife to a PAID educational gathering isn't a NOBLE PRIZE winning act.... IT'S called PARTNERSHIP ;)

    Yes it is!

It's also called neither of us like to sleep alone!

And I hate her going out of town by herself. So I had a vested interest. Going to Pilot Mountain was a bonus. So was her getting paid for it. She didn't know the office would pay her for the day. Gotta love it!

Now if I can upgrade the Coolpix 5700 to a D70, and the N80 to an F5.

Just read that the F6 is coming out. Think I can find a good deal on a slightly used F5?
