Talking trip to aquarium on Valentine's day

this aquarium wa WAY overpriced for as tiny as it was The New Emgland aquarium and parking was 28 dollars for two hours--- hehe

could have taken the train and paid half (she said sarcastically)

anyway just thought I'd share a few are a cross post from Photo critique I had a wicked hard time trying to stay still and not blur but whatever ---enjoy 'em anyway!

the first was a starfish thing with like 8 arms

the blurring whir of fishies was a school of fish exhibit the video we got of them would make an AWESOME screen saver

and a yellow green looking anemone

and the penguin island in the center

the next few are penguins, sea dragons (sea horses) and a ray

    Cool

    Hey Nat

Were those spots really on the ray or was that light from above? The Baltimore Aquarium didn't have spotted ones...

I agree, aquariums are way too expensive. It cost about the same including parking. Maybe if more of us went it'd be cheaper?

    nope

The spots were there....on the ray...really beautiful...

we had actually considered at one point in time getting a freshwater ray for home (they grow to 12 inches and they are brown with these bright cobalt blue dots all over...

rays are my favorite of all water thingys ;)

as far as it being cheaper....come on up we'll check and see ;)

thi saquarium was about a third the size of Baltimore's aquarium (sad) and the same price (ugh)

    aww..

    You changed your avatar!

I was thinking - if you were going to own a ray, wouldn't you need a huge tank? I'll drive up and install a tank that will replace your entire floor so you will walk all around your home on a tank of water, seeing your rays sailing along underneath you. Just throw a rug over any room you don't want sting rays watching you in Whataya think? A sale?

as for building a glass floor/ aquarium...... i once helped build a 300 gallon custom plexy tank.... and it held water THE FIRST TIME OUT.

drill, screws, plexy, apoxy and if it's VERY large some framing/ support by Rick's custom woodworking. buy the supplies and i'll twist rick's arm to do it a few bucks cheaper if you add cheese to the sandwich ;)

    cheese molds

and I mean mold as in shape, not mold as in green furry stuff.

Do you think if you melt the velveta, put it in a jello mold, and chilled it, it would stay in the shape? I'm thinking I have a new dish for Christmas!

    Nice shots!

    Oh, yeah.

Velveta, the wonder cheese, could do it! No need to wait for Christmas... Washington's birthday is the 22nd according to my calendar. Do they make crossing the Delaware molds? I think a Velveta mold would be quite appropriate for Fat Tuesday, the 24th. Take pictures! What a riot.

If they don't sell 'em, I bet Rickster could make some.. Better yet, have him make a really BIG mold of a camera or something photo related and we could all pitch in and set a world record for the world's largest "cheese" mold!

    in a sick sorta way....I wish you weren't kidding....lol

that would be cool...one giant velveeta sculpture WOAH!

they've done it with spam...we wouldn't even need to build a mold we could use the blocks and stack em into the shape of a camera....hmmmmm...callling all the engineering minds--hehe
