    Post Your Patterns

I like taking shots of patterns. It seems to be a deepseated human urge to arrange things in patterns and they are usually pleasing to the eye. I always think a pattern shot is stronger if it has an imperfections of some sort. I'd like to see some pattern shots that you've taken.

Those are great Speed. I like the handrail echoing the outside curve of the steps.

Actually, I guess that this one don't quite fit in the tread since it isn't a man made pattern but still, here is one pattern shot of mine.

Nature does the best patterns, Seb. I didn't mean to exclude them from the thread. Is this from a cone flower?

You bet, Larry. I like the patterns of the nails and the old paint within the patterns of the clapboards. I also like that buttery light.

    Hello Chunk,

These are echinaceas, very colourful flowers.

The pictures that you have added in your replies are superbs. The lighting is very very well controled.

    regards

Thanks Seb. I have trouble with the lighting because of the limited aperture range of the Canon S30 point and shoot that I have. I take all the help I can get from PaintShop Pro and PS.

OK, here's my pattern. I finally get to use it.

This is sand dunes from an airplane. Imagine how big they must be to look like this from 30,000 feet in the air!

Nice pattern, Kelly, thanks for posting it. It's amazing how similar the forms of the dunes are. Where are the dunes located?
I guess I'll upload a little vegetation to go with all that sand.

The dunes are Imperial Sand Dunes, south and west of San Diego, CA.

Thanks for posting. I like the way you've compressed the mailboxes. The mailman must need a break after that stop. Log cabins are a favorite of mine. You not only have the interlocking patterns on the corners but you also have the internal patterns of rings and checks within the logs.
    I like wheels too.

Hey! My pictures just finished loading, ( the mailboxes, vegetation, cabin, the snow in the brick...alot of the images here) they were not loading before, and these are all sooooooooooo good! Oh, and Kelly, I've actually been to those dunes, but only had the pleasure of photographing them with my feet not so firmly in the sand!

I'm glad you enjoy them Rachel, I'm enjoying seeing what people come up with too. How about posting a pic of the dunes from ground level?

But once i get those others burned i will be able to post in "critique" because i'm >itching< to learn from you guys, everyone here has such wonderful views of the world and technical skill!

They look great. Thanks for posting them. I think you should repost them in a new thread so more people will see them. I imagine most are getting tired of this thread by now.

Post in another thread? Na....that one was just taken for this thread, and to get my fix ( uploading) since I am SO anxious to upload photos! I'll wait to get mine on CD-R, so i can learn from those. this one, eh, not so much. I like the color though, but I guess that's why I bought my truck to begin with.... ( its on my hood) couldn't go to far to take shots....nothing much around

You got it. They are fireworks taken while rotating the camera. There are some others in my gallery here.
