I was in the middle of posting a reply to you last night and my puter crashed. I finally went to bed and now its up and running. Anyway...Magically, I have the very shots you ask for, from the X! (except for the shallow DOF) I took shots from every angle I could think of but didn't think of the DOF. I love your ideas and would like to know what the shallow DOF would add in your opinion. Here are some more angles from the same shoot. In the 3rd one, I was trying to crouch down a bit but a horn honked (keep in mind its a major highway) and it made me cut off their heads - not that they had heads anyway!
My fav of the bunch is the first of the ones I'm posting now, but wasn't sure it made sense without the street showing. As for the one with the car (supposed John), I actually took it from across the street with zoom. Those cars were zooming by so I had to take about 20 shots before I got one that looked good.
My reward for doing this shoot was a drunk that came up to me and told me I was beautiful. LOL!

I think it's really neat to come across something like this. It's funny and intriguing!
I am always happy to hear your ideas ( especially since you've been taught by the hot shots) and I couldn't care less what forum it's in. Trust me, I do not have a fragile ego, and I actully WANT criticism. We only grow from pain. Anyone is welcome to play with these shots, change them however they want, bad mouth them..whatever. I love hearing everyones ideas and it's all in fun, so no worries.

Ok, you just made me realize that thats my fav too. I seemed to be drawn to it even though it has technical probs. But you'r right. It has more life in it. So, do you mean it wasn't actually walking down the street??

Kit- I too love the first one, and what Todd did to it really made it more abstract and added alot of interest to it. Makes it look like something you could buy to hang on your wall.... and after looking back at the photo, it does seem that the Pink Mannequin is saying "This standing on the street corner is for the birds, C'mon girls, This way....." as she walks off.
Its abstract, its humor, it gorgeous!

I do love the first shot from that angle for the same reason that with the wind, the dress does look "alive". The more I look at it, the more I like it.

I so agree with you about Todds crop and saturation also - totally makes the shot.(Thank you Todd!) I see what you mean by the DOF. I think it would have worked very well if the shot had been like you said; filling the frame. As is, there may be too much background so the effect is distracting. Well, next time i'm in a similar situation I'll try both. Kelly, you are so motivating. I really didn't even think this shot was anything but a fun snapshot till you made your comment. lol Thank you.

totally! I didn't even notice that. I guess it takes a village to raise a photographer. Thanks for pointing that out. doh! Also lara, how did you straighten that without losing any of the top or bottom of the pic? I just tried and i can't replicate your fix.

Hi Kit, "StillMrFitz" pointed out the feature to me when I tried to post a photograph of a painting of mine. Once you crop the image, check the word "perspective" in the top tool bar. This will allow you to straighten.
Type the word perspective in the help section of photoshop for more detailed information. Theres lots you can do.
