Finally ventured out in the cold

It has been cold and foggy for quite awhile. I finally ventured out in it. The sun has been trying to come out in the late afternoon and melts the frozen fog (pogonip) then starts all over the next day.

The last picture (which is kind of suggestive) was challenging to take. I have been trying to practice my close-up shots. I have ice cycles off the back of my house that have grown down to eye level. It was quite entertaining to get close to these. The problem was depth perception and standing on ice. Trying to focus on them and getting a little to close, that I would slip and knock them down. So I would just go to the next one. By the time I was done - well, I don't have too many left now.

I like the second picture, it is interesting what you can imagine looking at icicles. Have a good look and look again. This is a most interesing side portrait.

Great frost on the tree, I can't remember the last time it looked like that here.

It is like a winter wonderland and very stunning. It is almost like snow and the flakes are picture perfect mini snow flakes. I didn't notice the shape of the ice cycle until I downloaded the picture, which I only caught the top half until I zoomed it out so I could see the whole image. It just made me chuckle.

So come on what do people see in the icicle shape. I see the breast of a woman, two bottoms and the front of the lower half of a woman. All without any clothes maybe. I'm being honest, I think it is amazing that this has actually happened, you couldn't recreate it if you tried.

Re: Finally ventured out in the cold

Thank you Penny for the comments. It IS cold and miserable everywhere, except So. Calif...my brother lives down there. I am happy that we don't have the winds like they are having back east....burrrrrrr. With the inversion, the fog is local and the top of the Sierra's are 10-15 degrees warmer and clear sky's. We are going on our 9th day and visibility is horrible. Thank you Peter too for your comment. I wasn't looking at the icicle for the shape as much as the coloring, until I downloaded it. Then I laughed. I hope you are enjoying your warm weather. Aren't you going into summer down there? I have a small site that I posted more of the fog pictures. It's more for family use, so it's kind of generic. www.pbase.com/terri53 if you're interested. I will be posting more of the pogonip pictures as it has been building up for the last 3days and looks more like snow now. Stay warm everyone...spring is coming!

Images like that make me wish I had stayed in Michigan instead of moving back to Florida.

suggestive but these are really amazing...
