    Finally

After three days of cloudy mornings in the North Carolina mountains, on Sunday morning the sun popped through between two bands of clouds with enough strengh to punch through the higher clouds. I only had about a minute to shoot. I was already packing my camera away, writing the day of as another cloudy bust when it started to break through.

I'm back home now after a wonderful, wet and cloudy, trip. Lots of pics to mess around with and lots of posts to catch up on. Maybe a little laundry too.

Yeah, but a bad day on a road trip is still better than a good day at the office! Oh wait, you're retired!

Welcome home Chunk! That's a great pic. I am just about to head up to N.C. myself. I hope you left me some good shots...

Welcome back. Nice way to start it off. Great exposure. Looking forward to seeing more of your travel pics. How was the trip through KY? Hope that wasn't the rain part.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. Yes, the trip was terrific in spite of some wet weather. The roads in the NC mountains are some of the best riding in the world.
Speed, this was taken from a viewing area on the west end of the Fontana Dam Just off HWY 28. Here's another wider shot that I haven't screwed up and made too dark like the first pic (sorry).

ldtimer, the trip through KY was great and the rain held off until I was into Tennesee. I rode Hwy 68 and then 27 south of Lexington rather than ride the interstate that second day of travel. Beautiful country that I'm going to be sure to revisit. I rode past a horse park that I think you've posted pics from while going around Lexington.

Sounds Like you were within 10 miles for my house if you came down north 68 in KY. I travel 68 when I go to Lexington which is about 60 miles from me. Glad that the KY weather and roads treated you right. Another great image.
