A few scenes from the Caribbean

Here are a few color pinhole images I scanned from a contact sheet I picked up today.
the 2 sea photos were shot from Annaberg on St. John - other VI's in vew include Tortola and Jost Van Dyke, I believe.

The sunset was taken the balcony of our room - a 15 or 20 second exposure.
I also posted this one in the toy camera gallery.

    Cool I'm always amazed

at your images from these little cameras, especially the pinhole, Megan. How do you get the frame?

I like the first one the best. But they're all very nice. Thanks so much for sharing them with us. And have a great weekend.

    Pinhole camera

I think it is so neat that you're doing vacation pics with color film in a pinhole camera. Did you make the camera yourself? Fun stuff, and they turned out really well.

I did make the pinhole - from a kit. It is cardboard - so I'm not sure how much longer it will last! I went to Freestyle's site - I bought it from them - but they don't seem to carry that particular kit anymore.

Amazing - in bright sunlight, the exposure is 2 seconds!

    Thanks for your comments...

    Thanks Liz!

The frame is actually the edge of the film. The camera I've been using takes 120 film - so the image actually takes up quite a large surface area. One roll in the pinhole yields 8 frames.

    Hi Megan,

You have a great talent, how ever did you calculate 2 seconds for the expousure. Have you a formula. I'm buying a D70 today & you are making me wonder if I'm doing the right thing!

    You're doing the right thing!

When I got the kit, it said that in bright sunlight, the exposure is two seconds, heh heh. I had actually found a table somewhere on the 'net as well - and lost my links at some point. So based on past exposures, I get 2 seconds in bright sunlight, 10-15 in shade, 15-20 around twilight [or during blizzards ] two hours or more at night.

Go! Get that D-70! It was amazing that of 8 exposures, these 3 were decent. My pinhole is not ergonomic, not quick to change film [I need a changing bag] and can't take a decent picture handheld. I have to rubberband it to a tripod or tape it to something stable, guess at exposures, hope it's level with the horizon... believe me, you're better off with the D-70.

    Megan
