    "The Boys of Fall"

I had to go shoot some high school football team/individual photos for a local weekly today. The team/individual shots were standard fair, but I snapped a few of the Bearden HS Bulldogs for myself...

Paul, that's the School Photographers - I was tagging behind them shooting for newspaper stock - ya know - in case some kid scores 3 touchdowns in a game, they'll have a stock head shot of the kid.

Lionheart - the border is an action - just record these steps and you'll have it.

    1. copy background layer to new layer
    2. select the new layer
    3. transform the new layer - ctrl+T - hold down the shift and alt key and drag a corner toward the center - this will keep the aspect ratio. I usually decrease the size by about 10-15% for a decent sized border around the original.
    4. Select Layer effects for the new layer:
    - 5px white stroke inside
    - drop shadow, set to normal, 40%, distance 0, size to your liking (so you can see it)
    5. Select the background layer
    6. Filter, Gaussian Blur - 20px
    7. Flatten the image.

That'll do it, and if you record it as an action, it takes mere seconds to do.
