    Question upside-down flowers

Hello, this is my first post! My dad has lent me his Minolta XG-1 camera so now I'm trying to learn some basic photography.

This is the first picture I'd like comments about. Thanks!

    Re: upside-down flowers

Welcome to the forum. You have a good subject here, but I would say you have included too much of the scene. The leaves in the foreground bottom frame are way out of focus and distracting rather than adding. The brightly lit background is also not a good thing here and taking away from the subjects. The upside down flowers should be in sharper focus. I would suggest moving in tighter for a closer focus on the subjects and less distractions, or move out further to include more of the scene which might be more interesting. But as it is it feels like your either too close or not close enough. I'm not telling you this isa bad pic, only my thoughts for improving on what has greater potential. I look forward to seeing more . . .

Now that I look at it with your comments in mind, I agree. That's definitely the benefit of criticism, to see what's there rather than just what was intended.
