    Re: Sunset

This is a very nicely done sunset shot. I like the color and the way the clouds look as well as the composition. It looks like it may be a tad over-sharpened as on the monitor I am looking at now it appears that there may be halos around the objects in the water. The only bad thing about sunsets is that they are pretty and it seems like everyone likes to take them and there are a lot of really great sunset pictures around. For this reason they have trouble holding interest for long unless there is something really outstanding about them. I think this one needs a little something more to bump it up into that really great category though I think it still is a very nice shot.

I totally agree with you it certainly needs an X factor for a sunset pic to be well remembered .. perhaps a more dramatic sky would have helped to improve further . Thank you . ;)

I beg to differ... I find this sunset very interesting for its portrait format. Most sunsets are prettily much landscape...

The use of the ND filter made the pic.

A longer exposure would (maybe) have worked better. I find myslef more and more interested in long exposure shots when a large body of water is included in the frame. I find the waves distracting as they reflect quite a bit of light.

UNFORTUNATELY, there is something in the FG that almost kills the pic. This big black pier (?) is a nuisance, one reason being that it is not clear what it is. Also it kind of merges with the horizon line which does not help.

HOWEVER, the main top cloud really adds a lot of 'oomph' in the pic. Overall, I like it! Congrats.

I also like your frame adn the white stroke.

    Cheers,

    Steph.
