    Queensboro Bridge. . .night shot

This was taken from the Manhattan side just over the FDR drive. I have discovered that when shooting these night scenes, overexposing by one stop eliminates most of the colorcast and gives me a finer grain. Shots at correct exposure had lots of colorcast, grain and vrey bright glare lights. apperture and zoom setting the same . what do you think?
    Thanks

Gary, this is a beautiful shot! I love the colors and the lights on the bridge. I find the reflection on the water a little too bright and it's drawing my attention away from the bridge. Just my opinion but a beautiful shot overall.

    Gday gahspidy,

    Really nice shot!.

The bridge looks a little pixely, its almost to fine grained, possibly to bright.........I cant really put my finger on it.

But one thing I have noticed with alot of your images are the boarders, they take the focus away from the picture to much. Something simpler would be better I think. I might be totally wrong on this…

Well the experimenting with different exposures certainly paid off, especially on those lights. The lights on bridges seem to mess up alot of shots with the glare and all. Good composition as well.

As for the border comment, one thing to mess around with may be different colors. I like how on his photoblog, photographer Noah Grey changes the color scheme for each image to reflect the colors in the image (A good example can be found at http://greyexpectations.com/?e=165 and also at http://greyexpectations.com/?e=162). The black that >JJ< put on there looks good too, though I think the graffiti font would go for a more "urban" type shot, like one on the QB bridge itself

    Micheal,
Thanks for the feedback. I agree about the reflection on the water and think I will try to darken or subdue it before printing.
JJ, thanks as well for the input. Yes there is some pixelation going on around the edges or artifacts. I believe I used too much usm. As for the borders, they are just to show how images or photos may look when matted. I personally like them, but if I get lots of others commenting on it as well, then I may change my ways ;) Thanks again for the feedback

gahspidy, I just wanted to congratulate you on both of these night shots. They're both beautiful, interesting, and unique shots. I'm writing you in this one because I think the color shot gives more justice to the feel you've captured.
Congratulations again, these are a couple of very special shots!

I like it a lot. Good night shots like that are so difficult, you did a nice job with that.

Gary this is really well composed, and again- super clean! Thanks for sharing the info on how you are getting more fine pix and less colorcast. Its very busy with light though- that is one brilliant bridge!
What is the little thing in the bottom left hand corner?

    Thanks Villenadecorte,
It is busy with lights and the object you are referring to inthe lower left hand corner is a part of a tree.
Glad you like the matting ;)
