This is a fine image. The view point and comp is great. The game being played with the Big city backdrop including bridge and skyscrapers, and the stadium crowds in foreground and beyond is powerful. This looks like a classic shot. I find it a bit contrasty, but that may actually be a positive as well, as I'm not too sure if i would want it any other way. This is great

Again you show your mastery of B&W this is an extraordinary composition. My one critique is probably because I have never been to a baseball stadium and that are the fine lines behind the batsman which I assume that they are to support some netting to protect the spectators.

On my new sharp monitor the contrast is spot on.

    Other than that terrific.

One other thing if Americans understand the rules of baseball, then how come you can't understand the rules of cricket

    Hello Tuna
A huge photograph this. The first thing that hit me was the V shape of the pitch and the foreground area and it is almost as if this shape envelopes the whole composition. The lawnmower lines on the grass add a lovely extra dimension to this geometry too.
Brilliantly sharp from front to back I could almost pick out my first cousin on the far stand.
You did not just take a picture of a scene but you waited for the players to go into active mode and the man with the bat is all set as are all the outfield players.
Great contrast throughout and the dark high rise is stark and imposing. But the whole composition is imposing with a great 'live' feel to it all. I can almost hear the excitement and noise.
Can I find a fault? No.
But if space and lens allowed it would have been even more brilliant to have seen the left hand corner of the pitch to balance with the right and complete the shape.
    I'm jealous and so impressed.

Yet another excellent photograph from you Tuna.
I like how the power lines cause your eye to go out towards the city after you view the action in the foreground.
Then there is the city! There it is!
This is one of those photographs that have a lot going on but isn't busy.
You have the people, the texture from the field and the city!
    Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!

Just been looking at this again and the comments and suddenly realised you can see the ball in flight. Wow that is what I call timing and Aweinspiring.

    Brian,

Are they really power lines? Also just noticed that the vertical thin lines are perspex panels me thinks.

    Re: PNC Park

Thank you to all for your generous comments.

Tom - yes, the 50mm constricted me but I decided to avoid a balanced composition in favor of this one hoping for a little more tension from the background to enter into the equation.

Also, the lines (wires) at top help hold up the netting (vertical lines) that protect the viewers behind the batter from tipped or "foul" balls.
