    The Country Manor Set

First time out with my 1Dmkiii. A rather large sprawling manor that is undergoing extensive restoration, people swarming all over the grounds and the owners living in one of the wings made this a tough nut to crack

Excellent HDR's. Thanks for sharing. Makes me think of what this may have looked like years ago, when it was occupied - and also, what the new owners will make it look like ...

I'm particularly fond of #2. I think I wish #3 were wider though to give more of a feeling of the whole lost childhood thing.
I've got to wonder, how do you find these places, and are there some misdemeanors involved when you go to shoot them?
    mostly Nikon gear

Feel free to edit my images for critique, just let me know what you did.

Heritage websites, UE websites, newspapers..........local closures etc. there is always places to see, its the getting in thats can prove tricky.........a misdemeanor, I guess if the owners had walked through the door I heard them behind then yes possibly.........but i bet he may have seen it differently. Just dress as a contractor, make out like your supposed to be there, in quick, grab the shots and get the hell out

Just an amazing set of photos, perfect amount of HDR in my opinion. The 2nd photo just keeps drawing me in each time I look at it.

    Thanks for sharing....

#2 What a beautifully vaulted ceiling! So much detail! That will be a gorgeous home once it is remodeled. #3 Has a very ethereal, spooky feel to it. Did you run these through sketch filters? #4 looks very cgi, like a still-shot for a pc game or something. # 2 and 3 are my def faves. Great shots!

I'd say you cracked this nut pretty well. All are good, but 2 & 4 are outstanding!

    Re: The Country Manor Set

Excellent use of HDR and a fascinating short study. I agree a bit with the critique about #3; a little wider would be interesting to see. But, I really like the lighting on that one. The only two nits i have are about #2 and #4...both of which I generally like. For the latter, the slightly out of focus handrail bothers me. Everything else appears tack-sharp and I so want to follow that railing into and out of the scene, but the softness towards the end bothers me. For #2, the falling architectural lines bother me as well. Especially when they can be corrected so easily. I'm not militant about absolutely straight lines and think that that effect can work quite well when used to purpose. In this case, the lines are not falling enough to make a statement, so I would correct them. Nonetheless, very compelling work!
