Question Help me pick my next lens

I currently shoot with an F5. Lenses I currently use alot are: Tamron 28-105 2.8, Nikon 50mm 1.4, Sigma 17-35 2.8-4 pretty much in that order from most used to least.

The lenes I am considering are:

    Nikon 70-200 2.8 g-afs
    Nikon 17-35 2.8d
    Nikon 300 4

I shoot alot of motorcycle and automotive photography. Although lately I've been doing more photojournalism/people based stuff. Does the quality of the nikon 17-35 really justify replacing a lens that I already have in my kit (relaize the nikon is a mush better lens) or would a longer lens be more beneficial? Right now I am leaning toward the 70-200. Comments are much appriciated.

Re: Help me pick my next lens

Welcome to the board. First off, thanks for all the info - questions like this come up quite a bit but rarely give much info about what the person already has or what they shoot. Can't help much without it!

I'd probably go for the 70-200. It's a range you don't already have and should be very useful for PJ and motor sports. On an F5 it just might focus faster than your own eyes do! And the VR would come in handy with handheld panning shots.

I wouldn't replace either of the two zooms you have unless there's a specific reason you need to (like AF speed, etc).

I second Another View's vote on the 70-200 lens. I shoot Canon and the lens that is on my 1DmkII at least 70% of the time is the 70-200 IS lens. It's the range that I find most useful. I'm glad you're looking at some really good glass to go with that killer F5 too.

Thanks for the feedback. The 70-200 it is.

I'll post up some shots after I get it.
