mono pod advice please

Hi all, just wondering if someone can help me, we go on safari to kenya in August and have decided that my trusty sony cybershot won,t be up to the job with its 3x optical zoom so I have invested in a fujifilm S5500 with a x10 optical zoom, I like the camera very much but I'm a bit concerned about camera shake so I,ve just ordered a velbon mono pod (up 4000) as a tripod is out of the question on safari, just thought the mono pod would be ideal, can I get some sort of device so that I can tilt the camera whilst it is connected to the mono pod ? I had the camera recomended by some one at work, have I made a good choice ?

Get a small ballhead. That will attach to the top of the monopod.
