    Warning Infinitiphoto.com=Bait and Switch

Classic Bait and switch tactic over there. Do not buy from them. They advertise the canon sd400 for $339. Then I get the email to call them to confirm my order. Right from the start the salesman asks me, what kind of memory card will I need with my order. So I tell him, I just want the 16mb that comes with the factory sealed box. He then informs me that the $339 only includes the camera, and that's it, no battery, no memory card, no software, nothing. I said are you seperating the camera from the factory box? He replies, "No, 90% of camera manufacturers supply 2 types of kits, 1 with just the camera, and the other with the camera and all the factory accessories" If I want that it will be $379 plus $26 for ground shipping. I then accused him of a bait and switch tactic and he says, "what am I switching, aren't I still offering you the same camera? I then told him, why isn't this factory box not offered on the website, and then he tells me that he doesn't have access to the web. At this point I ask him to cancel my order, he gets mad and hangs up. I was so mad that I had to join this forum and warn everyone. DO NOT BUY FROM INFINITIPHOTO.COM!!! THEY ARE RUDE AND WILL TRY TO SCAM YOU!!! please spread the word.

    Re: Warning Infinitiphoto.com=Bait and Switch

I concur, do not buy from InfinitiPhoto.com. They are running a scam. I ordered a Sony DSC-1M yesterday and received an email (attached) saying I needed to call them and "confirm" my order. I had feeling before I called that it was a scam. Sure enough, the guy asks me "What kind of battery do you want with that?" What?!? No battery? (BTW, I double-checked their web site, the product specs describe the lithium battery twice.) I laughed and told the guy he was running a scam. He said I should complain to Sony and started rattling off an 800 phone number. Then I said, "allright, I will take it without a battery and find a battery somewhere else." He didn't like that. Clearly he was going to lose money on the camera at the advertise price if he couldn't sell me the battery or other over-priced accessories. So he then feigns hurt feelings for being called a scamster and I asked if he could just cancel the order. "I already cancelled it" was his reply.

Do you think their accessories are overpriced??? Case in point, Infiniti sells a no-name 512MB memory stick duo for $249, TigerDirect sells Sony-brand equivalent for $99.99, other brands are cheaper.

I too had to subscribe to speak my mind about Infinity Camera. I purchase for a college. I got a quote on a Nikon D2Hs camera, battery charger, 256 MB Memory card and NIkon SB800. I received an email quote of 2969.99. After sending them the purchase order, they called to say that shipping would be $289.00. I said "No way" and proceeded to look elsewhere. Well, even with that shipping charge, they were still cheaper. I agreed and waited on the camera. It took six weeks to get it. Then upon receiving the order, the flash was not in the box. When I called they said, "oh someone cancelled the order for the flash". BullCrap! That is when I got really TICKED and realized I'd been had. No matter what I said, what my Purchase order said, or what the quote said they were not listening. It is still not resolved...they keep giving me the run around. They will not get one dime of the state of Kentucky's money until I get what I ordered. You hear that Steve, Thomas Lipps and Jarred...not one redneck dime!

    Re: Warning Infinitiphoto.com=Bait and Switch

    I originally orderd D 50 NIKON ....

waited a couple of day .. send them infinity people a email and ask them to be very careful and include everything which is in the original box as received from Nikon ...

Anyhow... also I called them the next day after I send the email ( Now the order was there for 4 - 5 days ) ... Now I was prepared for this call and after 1 1/2 hour of waitng in line and talked to several people in between , just to be put back to hold and waiting longer .... ok finally i get that person.... and they actually find my order as well... now I ask them if they have a tracking number for me.... he gets all pissy and says your order is cancelled... darn I was suppose to have a little fun with the guys,, dont I ?

No. after 2 hours on the phone this was WAY TO EASY ... so I say a few choice words and than good buy.... here comes the highlight.... The idiot calls me back and threathens me with some outfit who regulates foul languages with mailorder outfits.. what a joke .... this is calling the kettle black I suppose... anyhow I immedeately called the credit card company and tried to make sure that those boneheads cannot do anything with my credit card...

Than i had a cocktail, relaxed and order the camera boady and a few extra accessories from B & H .. Now I have spend roughly 300 bucks more than on one of those package deals on ebay... but In all reality. I have a better tripod ( a compact one, which will fit in the bag ) more storage ( 1 extra 512 card) plus the one gig, a lens cover to protect the 18-55 nikon lense and such, a remote shutter release...... so I am not all too bitter ....

Angry Re: Warning Infinitiphoto.com=Bait and Switch

I had to register and add to this thread. These guys are worse than just pushy baiters. Here's what I had posted elsewhere:
So my wife wants this nice camera for Christmas. (a Nikon d70s specifically). Infinity Camera, aka Best Price Cameras, has a ridiculous low price on their site-www.Infinitiphoto.com. Now I’ve been through this with liquidators that advertise something on the net selling under most stores’ cost price, and then make it up through bait and switch or hard up-sell tactics. Being prepared ahead of time, I politely told them, when I received my order confirmation email, that I was on the road and could not call them to (for some reason), confirm it yet again. I wait to see if they send the thing without me calling to hear about everything else they want me to buy. In the meantime, I researched and found other outlets claim the battery doesn’t come with it, which of course it does under normal circumstances. I also find out these guys sell gray market products to get the price low. So I call to see where the thing is, and they still have not processed it, claiming they were waiting for confirmation (aka, to talk to me to get a shot at selling something else), which I already did twice. Sure enough, when quizzed, the battery isn’t with theirs, but they could include one with charger for $300. Expecting this, I already knew I could get the battery and charger for about $100 anywhere, and told him to ship without. Now a camera that was available all of a sudden has a four week wait. Since they knew I wanted it shipped by Christmas, but screwed around with the order anyway, I had to let my wife know this would be belated. She was fine with the delay as the price was still hard to ignore. I know I was dealing with sleazy people to get price. I could handle them and that’s not my complaint. What bothers me is that since it was gray market, we checked with them (always a half hour hold) one more time to assure we could use it. Sure enough, no books come with it and this version’s menu was all in Malaysian. The CSR states, your salesman Bruce should have told you that. Well no sh@t, so should your website. So we said we couldn’t use that and to cancel. Curt (as in @sshole, not curtis) CSR boy states Bruce already did. WTF, because there was no commission without the add-on battery? Nobody told him to cancel anything, and had we not called, we would be waiting a month for something that had no intention of being shipped.
So my point is don’t even bother with these crooks. Even if you think you know the game, they reinvent it. You wait forever to talk to someone, they take your order, and may process it if they feel like it (as in you bought enough), and if you do get something from them, it may not even be in a language you understand.
