My on/off switch broke in half (Oops!)

First of all, I own a Canon T70 which is almost a year old. I use it for studio and outdoor pictures.

I recently tried looking through my camera and to my luck saw nothing. I took off the lens to see what was the problem, and my shutter flap was still in the middle of the process. So I went to go turn my camera on, pushed the shoot button, and it went back in. The problem is, when I went to turn it off, my switch broke in half.

What should I do about this? Did I destroy the camera by having this happen? Can I get it replaced? Should I chunk it and get a new one?

Here's a link to one collector's information site on the T70:

The additional links from that page may lead you to the specific information you seek - or the info presented may help you make an informed decision as to how to proceed.
