    Weekend Photoshoot

Couple pics from a shoot I did this weekend. We were able to use the pool at a YMCA when nobody was around.

Dramatic shots, nice work. BTW, I blew it - I do remember what the 712 stands for but now that it's nine days later - Happy Birthday!

    Very dynamic shots.

I gather these were natural light? The first looks like it could have used a reflector, and the second one looks like a pop of fill flash would be just the ticket. Then again, you may have been trying for the dark, mysterious look. I like the poses, and that they are tightly framed. (I know this isn't critique, but there's my two cents worth anyway.) Definitely show us more of this type of work.

BTW, was this a paying gig? Shots for a friend? Just practicing? Inquiring minds want to know.

Last but not least, Happy Belated Birthday!!! Let's see, you're 21 now? ;-)

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys. Turned 32 and now feel old. This shoot was a favor.

First shot was done while her makeup was getting applied. Frontal light from above the mirror, like what you would find on any makeup station. Slight highlights on her right from an open window to her right; notice the slight blueness to it, tungsten interior and daylight from window. Fan blowing on her to keep her cool and makeup from running.

Second shot was one small softbox placed to her left on the ground. Looking at it I should have used a rim light on her right. Pool area was lit with ambient. Strobe was around F 8 and shutter was about 1/20th to allow the ambient to come in.

I'd post more but the other ones might be a bit too racy for the forum : )

That's what the warning is for! (Silght Nudity, Nudity, Rated R, Adults Only, whatever)

There is also the Studio and Lighting forum. It's taylor made for this sort of thing.

Thanks for the info on the lighting. As you can tell, I've got LOTS to learn about lighting. I noticed the light on her right cheek in the first one. That's why I thought it was natural light. I totally missed the catchlight in her right eye. Guess I need to look closer at the fine details.

The second one was definitely well lit in front. The background and her right side seemed a little dark. Now I know why. I like the use of the slow shutter speed to pick up on the ambient light. Something I've been meaning to try. Thanks again for the info.

32? You're still young! I'm 42 and don't consider myself to be old - yet.
