Question Is There A Botanist In The House?

This may be a weed for all I know. I was on Atlantic Beach today, and saw this flower growing in a salt marsh. So I came here to see if anyone can identify it for me.

Fisrt shot is full frame, reduced for PR.

Second shot is a crop of the flower.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not a botanist...I'd call it a Morning Glory. They come in many shades and colors. My dad used to hate them for the trouble they gave when twisted in the gears and rollers of farm machinery.

Ditto, I think it's a Morning Glory too. There used to be a wall full of them in my Aunt's yard when I was a kid and she found them to be a nuisance as well.

I thought it looked like a morning glory, but I'm not a botanist.

Furthermore, I'm used to seeing them in gardens, around houses, etc. I'd never seen one growing in a salt marsh.

Thanks for the input buddy. I do appreciate the reponse.

    Thanks for the input Lara!

As I mentioned to Steve, I thought they looked like morning glories, but I've never seen them growing in a salt marsh. Must be like pine trees, they'll grow anywhere!
