stupid question

sorry for the stupid question, but i'm new here and new to digital photography.

what size do you use when you upload pictures to the galleries? i know other boards (non photography) prefer small images (640x480).

I'm not an mod here so maybe I will be corrected but I do post on a lot of forums. As a general rule it's nice to keep images at 640 or below if you're inserting them as part of the post. However it's also generally ok to link to anything as large as you want as long as the image isn't automatically loaded.

As "a rule" we like to keep images more around 600x600.

Or 600 on the long dimension and whatever that works out to on the short side...

I think it's 600x450 or 400. But also keep in mind your file size needs to be below 200k!
