Logic tells me that if I use a 1:1 macro lens (for example the Sigma 105mm f2.8 Macro EX) on my D100, I can get more than a 1:1 ratio..

Is my logic flawed???

well if macro is basicly able to cover a 24x36mm frame(35mm) and you crop it(in camera, in PS or with scissors) to equal the APS sized frame you then have closer than macro or GREATER THAN LIFE SIZE at close focus.

a few people use the MPE65 on a 10D to shoot ants.... I could be wrong on exact mag, but i do believe the MPE 1-5X becomes a 8x
