Re: Self portraits...that time of year

As a general rule, I don't do self portraits. But, occasionally I have to finish a roll of film and something like this happens.

The tilt of the camera makes it art.

    Oh Yeah?

You think your kung fu is good? Window light self-portrait! Take that!

Taken with the new Canon PowerShot SD950 IS. I haven't had a chance to compare yet. But I am suspicious that this camera is a little noisier than the SD850 IS. It's sort of to be expected as they crammed 12 million pixels onto the same area as the previous camera's 8-megapixel sensor.

Hey, I'll be a late arrival to the thread since the other SLC folks are here.

This one was shortly after I'd read about the zone system in Ansel's books. And also the discovery of the usefulness of spot metering.

Aw man... I've been meaning to get in on this, but I'm so camera shy I've been afraid to do it..

So here's a couple, first a picture of my niece and myself. Can't really see much of me, but at least I'm working up the nerve..

And here, I finally broke down and did it while playing around with my mothers digicam. Sorry about the face, but trust me I wouldn't have looked any better otherwise

    Very Nice

    WCpilot-
That's a nice composition and it is a really nice exposure. Great, smooth range and a nice, creamy tonal quality.

You're going to Westminster right? I'm in CA for the rest of the week. But maybe next week you, me, and Brian can get together for some dinner or something? I think we've put it off long enough.

Here's one from Tombstone last week. If I had wanted to, I could have played with the angle and getting more of my shadow but, eh.

Re: Self portraits...that time of year

Hey, UPS brought me a D300. Nice of them, eh? Anyway, here is a self portrait from the new camera. I let it pick the focus point, and it picked my eye! I've got to be honest, it scares me a little when a camera can find my face, and focus perfectly on it. Anyway, this was also the first time I've been able to use off camera flash. The on board flash kept blowing away the SB-600 since it was so close. But a thin book and very awkward way to hold the camera solved that problem. Anyway, here ya go.
