    Red Rhinos

Well I just got a new rag that has a section in it about hand coloring B&W images, and this is my 3rd attempt. The only one I didn't delete. It ain't perfect, but I think a good start?

    Any thoughts?

I always love these shots. They just seem to add such an interesting twsit to the shots. Though I'm not huge about the red, the colors is evenly spread and looks great!

Neat shot, where did you find the rhinos?!

In my backyard! Where do you keep your rhinos....

Really though, I spent last sunday at the Jax Zoo, and I filled up all 3 of my CF cards two 128's and a 256. I got some pretty decent images and I plan to make a zoo post once I get them all processed.

I'm glad you like it. I truthfully expected to get ripped over it. I used the red cuz that is what they used in the magazine and I was following instructions...

    Thanks Jared!

You've made a good start Almo. You seem to be experimenting in a lot of different directions. Good for you, I wish I had your drive.
There are a lot of different ways to go with hand coloring. I would opt for a diluted, less saturated paint for a more subtle result. Start almost too weak and once dry decide if you need more color - some paints 'dry down' or darken as they dry.
There used to be a guy named Jim Morris who posted on the original forums who did some terrific hand coloring. Here's one of his (not his best by a long shot imho) that I found in one of the old archived project gallerys.

Take a look around the old stuff for some more fine examples and keep showing us your results. What are you printing on and what are you using for coloring?
