    Me & My Helmet

LOL - A fan at the hockey game shot a few pics of me shooting from the bench and sent them to me. Do you like my "league required helmet"?

Well, probably for the better! Rather safe then sorry! But wow, that could get awkward,

    Nice shots,

    Fun photos.

I've often wondered how it would feel to have a puck hit your camera when shooting from the camera windows behind the net. Do you have camera insurance that covers a puck through the lens?

John - no I don't. Last Thursday night I was standing right where I was (and in the same position) in photo #3 and puck went down into the corner to my right. The other team leaned out and I could no longer see the action in the corner so I zoomed to the man sliding in towards the goal. The next thing I heard was "HEADS UP!" - in Ice Bear hockey-speak this means - duck, flinch, bail, dodge - do what you gotta freakin' do, man - b/c a puck is coming toward the bench at around 70 mph and it's going to really freakin' hurt if it hits you! After the heads up, I saw a flash of a giant puck through the lens, and I moved it up and to the right just in time for the puck to hit me in the back of the left hand (the one holding the lens).

Next thing I felt was excruciating pain reverberating around my wrist and hand, and I heard the boys say, "You get hit? You get hit?" - I nodded yes and while looking at the camera to make sure IT didn't get hit - I hear the boys say, "Awesome! You got a war wound!"

Camera was fine and my wrist felt better in a couple of days, but I had a huge knot that night.

And Penny, you're SO good for my ego. Thank you - it's just wierd to see what YOU look like when you shoot.

LOL, Natalie, I kid with the boys every game - "The Short Bus was late picking me up tonight."

Question Re: Me & My Helmet

So in addition to the helmet, do you have to sign a waiver of some kind?
I have been to events, like the Red Bull Rampage, where I had to sign a waiver.

Nope - no waiver, just the helmet. It's funny because they make the kids who go on the ice between periods sign waivers, but not the dude with the camera who sits on the bench DURING the game.
