    I'm a (green) Newbie

I thought I would introduce myself instead of being a lurker lol.I did manage to post a few pics, but did'nt feel I had the experience to reply to anything,I was going to put out a s.o.s but did'nt which fire to put out? (what did I do wrong?,which cam?,what button where?etc.lol
I have been taking pics for many years with never really much techno thought,it was take the film in and be surprised lol 2 years ago I got my first digital camera a Canon power Shot S50,and since then I have been hooked!! I found the possibilities endless with it,and the pics I managed to take were so much better(thanx to the instant viewer) Anyway my hubby decided to give me a new camera for our anniversary seeing as I have been obsessed as he put it lol (the pile of magazines, web site visits, forums )So he bought me the Olympus Evolt-E300 with a extra lense, and a few other goodies.Well at first I was thrilled and then I peeked at the manual which was very basic and a quick read. The shocker was that the full manual is on a disc!! My first thought was that theres so much info that they could'nt include a handbook.Anyway I got the camera saturday and was ready to take it back sunday! I had a heck of time trying to figure it out and was frustrated(maybe reading the manual would help)lol
So okay tonight a week later and I did take some pics and I have developed a love/hate relationship with the new cam(love the pics it takes?hate that its smater, but not for long)anyway heres some humour for ya ......as I was looking through this site at posts, reviews anything that could help,a pop up came up and what do you know its for my new cam!! So I checked it out and WOW it had lessons and I learned about a cool button (scenes)well after laughing at myself and trying out all the stuff it does in scene mode I am over the moon lol and a week later I can thank my hubby for the great cam

    Welcome!

Welcome to PR. You picked a great place to ask question, share your passion for photography, post your images - and just enjoy yourself. Sometimes the weekends are a bit quieter, so if you don't get lots of replies tonight - hang in there - and keep posting.

Congratulations on your new camera. Soon it will be like 2nd nature to you, although you'll find that there is always more to learn with digital - and photography in general. The best way we can help you is to post your pictures.

If you want to just share some pictures for discussion - or just for starters, post them in Viewfinder. If you're looking for serious help, post them in Critique so others can help you - and point out how you can improve your images.

I'm glad you posted all the info - it gives us an idea how you're doing, what equipment you're using, etc.

    Liz

Second nature is right. Once I really started shooting with my SRT-102, it did become just that, inputing all the settings I could do without my eyes leaving the view finder, and it did become just that second nature, that's carried over now to my X-7A.
