    I broke my toe

So we are in the middle of some kitchen work, and we needed temporary support beam. My husband has been saying since he started, don't go barefoot in the kitchen. I was throwing away some paper towel, turn around and cracked my little toe on the base of the support beam (2x4's). It's purple and swollen and I can't move it. Add to that, my new flip flops with the glittery sequins on the straps gave me a blister.

top it off, this Saturday I'll be on my feet for 8 hours. On the plus side, my shoes that I wear on my bike fit just fine. Unfortunately, my plans for Saturday do not involve biking or bike shoes in anyway. So I'm off to get new shoes.
    I sleep, but I don't rest.

Ahh, some insight into how this happens. All part of a plan?

Bummer - sorry to hear about that, sounds painful.

Ah, that sucks. Broken bones are never fun! Hopefully the healing process goes well and nothing more goes wrong!

Didn't say "I told you so", since you didn't report having to kill him.

I can relate, having broken two toes. Never a fun experience. My first was the worst. I got up shortly after going to bed and hit my toe on the leg of a chair. I fell to the floor with a thud, and I'm lying there holding my foot, gasping from the pain (and trying not to cuss) and Dawn was laying in bed laughing at me!

When she broke a toe, she thanked me for not laughing at her. What can I say? I'm a gentleman. ;-)

    Hope it heals up soon!

No, he was very kind and did everything while I lay on the couch all day. Pain makes me sleepy. Didn't even get out to get new shoes, I'm going to get them tomorrow.

I've broken toes three times... :(

I can relate. I've broken toes three times...

Once doing a forward roll in an Aikido class (I have long toes, they crossed over and one snapped when my foot hit the mat), once when a heavy shower drain plug fell off my bathroom window shelf onto my foot while I was washing my hair (had my eyes closed at the time - boy was that a nice surprise, and my neighbors learned some new words that day), and a third time when I kicked at my cat, missed and my barefoot hit the wall.

Yeah, I know. That third one was karma, and I never got mad at my sweet kitty again...

Anyway, I know the pain, and ultimately the inconvenience of having to deal with a broken toe. And, all things considered, it's really a pretty wimpy injury, so you don't get a whole lot of sympathy from folks, at least not after the first couple of weeks.

You just have to try to stay off it. It's will be sore for quite a while, then eventually you'll stop thinking about it so much, and before you know it, it will be healed...

    Re: I broke my toe

That stinks. If it makes you feel better, I broke my toe 2 weeks before going to Brazil to live, and then once in Brazil 6 months later, I broke the other little toe on the first day of Carnival. Somehow I managed to drink enough to dull the pain and samba all night 5 nights in a row.

I hope you're not in too much pain! Tape it up good!
