    a hybrid I'd drive

Not that I can afford a Lotus, but I'd still love to give it an on-track outing

Interesting. It certainly looks sporty enough. And I'm sure I couldn't afford it!

nice, i didn't know they made a hybrid one. though for about the same price, i'd probably rather drive a tesla roadster, still based off a lotus.

After I saw an Exige absolutely hammered by an evo at Bathurst I have kind of gone of Lotus. The Hybrid is interesting but I am more intrigued by the Tesla. I can't wait to see one in Australia!

    Re: a hybrid I'd drive

Ever see a Tesla try to go around a corner? It isn't pretty. Too much battery weight. Hopefully the Lotus isn't too heavy.

Actually, I just don't think electric and hybrid are good ideas for sporty cars. Batteries weigh them down and make them as easy to maneuver as a aircraft carrier. If you drive them in a "sporty" way (and why wouldn't you if it's a sports car?) you bring down the economy of a hybrid and utterly diminish the range of an electric. At least the hybrid can charge it's own batteries. Electric plug it in and then come back in 12 hours. They are great for commuter cars, not so great if you want to actually have some fun.

Somewhere I've got a shot of a univertisty's electric radical.
Entering a panamerican race of some sort.
Their solution for racing was to have a new battery pack at the refuelling station.
Special jacks, a few bolts and up with the car, down wiht the battery in with the new , secure it, and off.
I'm sure they can do it in the time a normal fuel pump can fill a radical's tank (nt high flow refuelling rigs).

The Porsche 911 GT3 R is the beast I want to get my hands on, even at over $300,000US. Porsche is going all hybrid in the not very distant future. There was a Cayenne Hybrid being shown off recently nearby and I got to look at it on a showroom floor. Still hot stuff with reported performance that is way beyond street appropriate!!
