After taking this shot I went back across a gap between the bridge and bank to swap out cameras, as I was getting back onto the bridge my footing slipped and down I went. You can see the river below but there was quite a distance from me to the water when I landed.
I am well on my way to recovery, I just need to work on my strength and endurance. Hopefully that will come. Thanks again for all of the support it means alot.....

Greg -- Please keep us informed on your progress. It's probably pretty normal to lose your wind and endurance when you're sitting in bed for a few months, but it will return pretty easy once you get out and about (bike machines are murder in a good way, so try one). That bridge looks awesome! I would also have photographed it, regardless of the risk. It's a chance we all take I guess.

Well I finished rehab today. In the last six weeks I have doubled my strength and endurance. I actually played a few holes of golf with my friend Larry yesterday. I am not sure what was funnier my swing or my white legs. LOL. I did manage to par one hole but am a long way away from my regular game of golf. But Larry and I had a great time.

    Greg,
Glad your well and recovering. That looks like a nasty bridge to work on.

Apologies for not replying sooner, I've not been on here for a while and just started photography up again after quite a few months.

Holy smokes. I am pretty new here and haven't spent much time poking around all of the forums other than photo critique. I just read what happened to you. I'm glad your alive and doing well. Someone must have been watching over you to survive a fall from a bridge, and only good people are watched over like that. I'm looking foreward to seeing your new photo's when your able to do so.

    Take care

Greg seems to be doing quite well now, Darin. This thread just goes to show what a caring community this is.
He has been a regular contributor, helper, moderator of the Olympus forum and great phtographer since 2006. Probably much longer than 2006 on the photographer part.

Re: Greg McCary in serious accident

Thanks Frog, Yes Darin I am doing much better. Although I do have a few minor issues. My left foot is mostly numb and hurts alot, my two small fingers on my left hand as well. Sometimes the pain is bad other times I can live with it. I am also get winded very easily from the lung damage. For some reason when I lay down at night I can't lay on my right side. I just can't breath well. My right calf is swollen due to a blood clot, see golf picture above.. But God spared me for something. I feel there is just something I haven't accomplished to be spared. I truly look at life differently. Every time I step up on a curb I remember my therapist an me practicing steeping up on curbs and climbing stairs.
Here are a couple of reminders. The first is the sign that my boss found at the site where I fell and brought to me once he knew I was going to make it. I had it framed and now it hangs in my Livingroom. The second picture is just part of the Halo I wore, yes that is spikes that held it on and yes it hurt like heck. I felt like my head was in a vice for three months. It hangs on the wall next to the sign.
But everyday is a blessing and I get a little better and feel more myself. But it also was a life changing experience. My marriage for instance has gotten much better. My wife and I seem to be on a never ending honeymoon...LOL

I will post a picture of the busted lens later. My camera survived the fall but not the lens.

Perhaps love that has been lost and found again is treasured more, stronger for all that is has weathered and brave enough to continue on together.

Time will tell our story and if I have to I will write a new page every day and start it with your name, Mr McCary, and sign on the last line.....with love always, Nora.

(and Frog, I am convinced you are indeed a prince....)
