Hello, Greg is still progressing, he has been moved out of ICU into a regular room!!!
He's still on a ventilator, has a trach and wearing the HALO but he's just made a BIG step on a very long journey.

He was moved today, I won't be able to see him again until Sun evening. I'll have more to update then. As always your prayers are greatly appreciated. God bless you all.

    Have a starry night. Nora

Re: Greg McCary in serious accident

Dray, I didn't get to see Greg Sunday. I have to replace a tire, it is dry rotted and not safe to drive a long distance (any distance) right now. I'm replacing it today though. The hospital Greg is at is in Atlanta, about an hour and a half drive from Rome. I am very anxious to see him again since he is getting better.

My wonderful mother who has been helping me with Anna since Greg and I separated has a growth on her lungs, she was diagnosed this past week. She is 78yrs young. She plans to move in with me so it will be even harder for me to visit Greg right now. Greg's parents are with him almost daily and as you know there are issues there so I try to visit Greg at night after they leave. I also work overtime so I don't get to visit often. His case manager keeps me informed daily though. I also talk to his nurses on both shifts. I just want you and everyone to know if my posts seem fewer it is due to all that I have on my plate right now and that my lack of presence at the hospital is not a lack of concern.

Greg is stable and he now has the long road of recovery ahead of him. I feel his next move will be a rehab hospital. But he has much healing ahead of him to get to that place. He is still on a vent. I tell him when I visit he WILL get better. I am hoping that in the next few weeks he will be able to communicate better with me. It is important to me that Greg knows there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I tell myself that as well. Smile.

Anna is doing well too, thank you for asking. She misses her pre-school class but we keep busy. She keeps me very busy. LOL. She misses Greg but I remind her often that he is getting stronger and better every day. And he is.........

I thank all of you for your concern and for caring! Nora

I'm happy to learn of Greg's progress. The things most of us take for granted are often the most important - mobility, loved ones, life. Greg has given so much to this site. I hope we are able to give a little back now when he needs it most.

Don't worry about fewer posts. We know you have a huge load you're carrying. I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I am absolutely certain of the power of prayer -- but I wish I could do more. I pray for you and Greg and your families continuously through each week. Just know that when you feel too weak to hold on any longer, it's okay. God never tires and He is the one holding you in His hand as you are barely able to hold His finger. Much peace and power to you and yours.

Nora you are doing a great job and service to Greg. Not many people would think to inform a web forum of an event such as this. Any updates as to his condition are helpful and I too know how time consuming life can be. I dropped out of this forum for months because of getting busy with life's little problems. I hope Greg might be well enough to chat with us soon.

Re: Greg McCary in serious accident

Ideas: Since Grg's journey is going to take awhile I have decided to do something creative and you all are part of it....
I plan to make Greg a collage of all of your words and make it into a HUGE banner to hang across his room. This will give Anna and me a little project to work on together.
Anna is artistic too and I know she'll put lots of loving touches on it.

I'm also working on a collage of Anna to hang in Greg's room and I've been writing her thoughts and activities down for Greg(sort of an Anna journal for him) maybe we'll turn that one into a book.

Today was a beautiful day, the weekend and Monday was nothing but rain and gloom and today when the sun shone so promising and brightly I thought to myself, I have to turn all the pain and worry I have been carrying into yesterday's rain. Yesterday's rain is no more.
Hope has crept back into my days.

I hope you all are having beautiful days too. Nora

PS. Frog, I got a new tire...

Glad you got that tire, Nora! You've got enough ups and downs right now.
I think it is a wise idea to take the downs and ups of the situation and turn it into something creative.
    God bless!

Re: Greg McCary in serious accident

EXCITING NEWS!!! I just spoke with Greg's casemanager. Greg is now able to use a passy muir (it is a device that enables him to talk). I could not get off work to go see Greg this week and then I had the two dry rotted tires, I am telling you I am SO EXCITED that Greg is making huge progress now.

I can't wait to see him. Greg is responding to treatment, he is doing GREAT!

I am very happy to share this with all of you. He still is on a vent, but I expect that will be off soon, he has been going 10hrs on, 10hrs off. Just a BIG STEP.

Thank you all, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for praying for and sending get well wishes to Greg, for standing by me when many don't. You all have been a blessing, Nora.

Zach, will send you a pm.
