Right on Larry! I've had Greg in my thoughts and prayers all day. I went to Church at noon today - and prayed for him in a most special way. I'll keep checking here for an update - and keep praying.

Re: Greg McCary in serious accident

Hi Everyone, I just got home from Atlanta. Well, Greg is halfway through. The surgery today did not go as well as planned. His surgery involved the front of the neck and the back of his neck. His dr only got to do the front part, when he turned Greg to work on the back part Greg's SAT dropped extremely low and the dr said he had to stop or he would have had to perform CPR on Greg. My spirits are low. But his nurse kept assuring me that Greg would get better, that it is just going to take longer. Please continue your prayers.
Greg will make it through this. Thank you and God bless you all. Nora

His dr said they would try again in a week to give his lungs time to get stronger.

Thank God for that. He has multiple fractures that start at the top of his spine to the end and a contusion on his lung. As many of you know Greg has already dealt with two back surgeries prior to this due to disc problems.

This site has meant a great deal to Greg and I know he has made many friendships here. I know there are some here who would want to know. Any encouraging words will mean a lot to him. I will print them and see to it he gets them. Please remember Greg in your prayers. I will keep you all updated. Thank you. Nora

Re: Greg McCary in serious accident

    Nora,

It's very disappointing that Greg didn't have both surgical procedures today. It sounds like the surgery is really involved and intense. Although the surgeon could only perform one of the procedures, this will give Greg's body more time to rest and heal before the 2nd one. The human body knows how much it can take, and maybe this is for the best even though the recovery period may be longer. I think Greg's nurse is a blessing to both of you, as she is a professional and seems to have a handle on the situation and her words are very encouraging.

As you know, you can continue to count on the support, thoughts and prayers from everyone here. I look forward to your daily updates - with hope in my heart for a complete healing for Greg. I'm praying for you to have the strength you need to do all that you need to do now, and to keep hope in your heart.

    Liz

I'm sorry to hear it didn't go quite to plan, but at least it was productive. He will continue to get stronger with time. And thank you so much for taking your time out to keep us all up to date here. That's very kind of you and we appreciate it.

I know it must have been disappointment to you that the Dr wasn't able to get everything done. Lets hope that is for the best and he and Greg both will be stronger and more rested to get the whole job done the next time. You and Greg continue to me in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there Nora you and Greg are headed up the hill once again not sliding down. There is a very bright future at the top for both of you.

Wow... last I'd read, Greg was scheduled for Friday. Very sorry to hear that things haven't gone as planned. But Danic is right; sometimes it is a case of one step/two steps and, as OT said, hopefully both Greg and the doctor will be better-rested and, ultimately, better-prepared to handle to the challenges of the next surgery and complete the work remaining.

Thank you for the updates, Nora. You, Greg, and family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Better days ahead...

    Nora,

So sorry to hear that things didn't go as planned. Please tell Greg that I'm thinking of him.

I hope that he is fit enough for the next stage soon.

Glad to see your holding up so well. Offer my best wishes to the rest of the family.

Hi everyone...BETTER news today..... Greg is responding to the antibiotics, fever down, almost gone. YEAH! You all helped me, I was really low last night. I saw the glass half empty and I am not a half empty glass person. Then I read your encouraging words that were insightful too. Sometimes a person can be so involved in something that you can't get a full perspective of it. I wish I could give you all a big ole southern hug.....

Greg's vital signs are all still good too.......
