A few Lumix shots from the Oregon Caves

Not in the caves. Too dark for the weak flash on the Lumix
Took some landscapes after the cave tour.

    Very pretty!

That is an area that I would like to visit someday...

Oregon is a beautiful place. The scenery is lush with vegetation and beautiful mountains. I want to check out their coastline next time I go there. Lots of mosquitos though. And no self serve gas stations-it's a state law since the end of WWII. But, it is gorgeous up there. I wish I could have taken better pictures with the Lumix. I know it's not all the camera's fault. A lot is my lack of vision and unfamiliarity with the new camera's short comings. Maybe in a year or two I'll have a different opinion of the camera.

Hey, which way did you go to get there? Cave Junction is only about an hour from me. Did you take 101 to 199 or I-5 to 199? It's much prettier if you go the coast-- you get to see some stunning country... and hey, I live nearby, so you're never alone!
And where are the cave interiors? I love those kinds of pics.
    Take care,

We took the I-5 route. The mapquest directions to the caves were wrong, but fortunately at the end we were able to find the caves (we stayed the the chateau/lodge across from the caves the night before) using my Delorme GPS program on my laptop. I'll have to dig through my cave pictures and see which ones can be salvaged. The Lumix does really poorly in lowlight scenes. The LCD is unreadable, and the pictures are consistentl horribly underexposed under lowlight situations. On the plus side, the Lumix shots have a pretty good latitude for resurrection during post process editing compared to my Canon cameras.

some pics from inside the cave. The caves weren't all that spectacular, but the history of the caves is very interesting. These are the few that were amenable to post process resurrection-the Lumix fz-5 really is a pretty poor performer in low light, and the anemic flash that it comes with doesn't help.
