    Extreme Makeover Shoot

Last week a young lady that I know from my hockey coverage called and asked me to do her head and body shots for ABC's Extreme Makeover submission. Well, she came over today and shot with me. I honestly don't think she has any business being on Extreme Makeover. All she needs is braces and lasik surgery.

In order to shoot the ugly, I made her promise to let me do one of my normal shoots too. Here are the results.

First, the ugly shots, and believe me, this was harder than I thought it would be.

And here's how she looks the way I see her through the lens.

I agree, no business going on Extreme Makeover.

Hopefully she will be able to see the same things you saw.

I agree, also...this young lady definitely doesn't need Extreme Makeover...maybe a little confidence boost and I hope after she saw "YOUR" photos of her, that she got that confidence in herself.

    Holy Twinkies Batman...

    She's hot!

And please, by all means, tell her I said so. Perhaps it'll help her see how good she really looks.

Nice work as always AC. I really wish I was able to shoot people. I'm quite envious of those that can.

Keep us updated on her situation.

    I'm with you Andy!

Braces and lasik (or contacts) and she's a baby doll!

    Incredible shots as usual.

    Hey!

    Nothing wrong with glasses!!!!

And probably a good boost of self-esteem would do the trick, no need for a laser to the eyeball or a metal mouth.

I agree with the others, all this young lady needs is a big dose of self confidence.

And once again I bow to your powers. Great job presenting these images. Your presentation and post processing skills are the best.

Incredible transformation Andy. Perhaps ABC should contact you to do their makeovers. Just think of the $ they would save by getting rid of all those Drs. The others are right on the money on this one. This is a very sexy young lady, with an incredible figure, and a little confidence boost is all the makeover she needs.

    Steller work as always!

    First - nice work.
Second - All that girl needs is self confindence. If she held herself like she looks in your photos guys would be hounding her all day. Just smoking hot with a nice body.
Third - that is really nice work Last shot is my fav.

Looks like a setup to me...

I disagree with most of the folks here. If Andy's "before" shots are truely how this woman looks most of the time, then IMO, yes, she could use some styling makeover help. Now, whether she qualifies for a national tv show, I can't say...

    Still, that's a BIG if.

My guess is she looks more like the "after" shots most of the time, and she simply geeked out her look for the first pics by taking away the makeup, messing the hair up into a dull and unkempt 'do, then posing in a frumpy way with the glasses on in an unflattering light.

What gives it away is that she looks much too comfortable and natural in the glam shots. If this was the first time she'd ever been styled and made up with great makeup, I doubt she would (or could) pose like that.

And I'm not sure why everyone is saying this young lady needs a boost of confidence. Andy's "after" pics show clearly that she already has that.

Oh, and yeah, I agree. Nice work, Andy...

    Re: Extreme Makeover Shoot

Yikes, I shudder at the thought!

My opinion, Extreme Makeover is NOT for a young lovely girl like her. Not only does she not need a make over, at her age she shouldn't have any drastic surgery that she obviously doesn't need. Maybe braces, sure. Maybe even lasix if wearing glasses bothers her that much.

This Extreme Makeover show does everything including liposuction, breast augmentation, plastic surgery, including rhinoplasty, chin implants etc. The list goes on and on. Obviously, it doesn't come without risks. They don't call the make overs "Extreme" for nothing. I sure hope she changes her mind. In my eyes, she's beautiful just the way she is.

    Re: Extreme Makeover Shoot

Her reaction to her after shots: "You did a great job. Your photos are great. I look retarded." And, the show turned her down almost instantly. I knew they would.

Steve - Sure, the ugly pics are made to look ugly. That's what I was hired to do. As I said in the original post, this was a lot harder than I thought it would (i.e. purposefully making someone look ugly). The ugly photo is her at her worst - the real gal isn't that far off. Hair in a knot on top of her head - large dumpy t-shirts - big jeans and some eyeliner on occassion (she hangs out with the skater crowd).

As for the after shots - I brought in someone to do her hair and makeup. Her friends scrounged up the clothes after they found out what I was trying to do. The posing - that was a fight from the word "go" - most of the after photos come from the second half of the shoot, when I finally got her comfortable with me and the camera.

PS. Her friends love these shots, especially her male friends.

    Re: Extreme Makeover Shoot

You did a fantastic job of bringing out her beauty Andy. I'm glad the show turned her down! If anything, she should come out of this with more self confidence, simply by looking at your photography of her, and she should be thanking YOU for that!

I am glad she got turned down she is to pretty to need and Extrem Makeover. If she usually dress in a way that doesn't flatter her maybe her friends could try to get her on TLC's What Not To Wear.

I wasn't familiar with the show (absolutely hate most reality shows). I didn't realize it involved surgery. Thought it was one of those 'Style Network' deals with new hairdo and wardrobe. etc.

Now that I have all the facts, I agree with you. Her seriously trying to get on a show like that has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. There is nothing wrong with her at all that good wardrobe and makeup choices wouldn't solve.

BTW, I think lots of women look great with glasses, too...
