    Exiled In Hawaii

My wife and I needed to get away for the weekend, so we cashed in our points and headed to Hawaii for three days. Since I have been putting in 60 hour weeks at Citigroup, I was exiled at the hotel while Karen went diving.

While I wanted to go take pictures, it was great to just hang out by the pool.

Here's a quick picture of the hotel pool over looking the pacific ocean. It was the best three days that I have had in a long time. The best news, is that I am giving my notice tomorrow. It will take a four month transition to train somebody for my job, but it will be better for my health and well being in the long run.

Congratulations on discovering yourself again and the value of YOU! That's a HUGE step! Way to go, and I wish you all the best in discovering your new future!

What island, what resort is this? My husband and I are planning a trip to Hawaii for our anniversary in July, and I have no idea where to stay. This looks beautiful!

I would love to be diving and shooting both above and under the water in Hawaii.

    Hi Kelly,

This was in Kona, at the Shearton @ Keahou Bay. It's very quiet, and I would tell anybody who wasn't a diver to go to the Hilo side of the island. In Hilo it's much greener and closer to the beautiful greenry.

As for islands, I still love Oahu because there are great beaches and things to do. Maui is a great mix between Big Island quiet, and Oahu fun.

I'm excited to leave my job, and I have to thank my wife too. She's the one to push me to do this.

    Re: Exiled In Hawaii

Like my husband told me a few years ago, "there's no one holding a gun to your head making you stay." Also, "You don't owe them anything."

Those two sentiments helped me cut the emotional ties and let me go free. I'm so much happier now, pursuing the things I love, with the support of my husband.

Aw, you have my condolences on being exhiled. Don't pull a muscle reaching for the remote!

I also congratulate you on putting yourself before your job. No point in putting work before health just to spend all your cash on hospital bills later! LOL Best of luck to you and your new bride.

    Re: Exiled In Hawaii

That's one of the big reasons that I became a teacher. After 25 years of broadcasting, working every night and weekend known to man, I am finally home in daylight with my wife and kids. I' lucky that I get to teach video/film and photography, two of my passions.

Do you dive with your wife? It's a great thing to enjoy and explore with the family.

    Hi Loren,

Wow! That's quite a "pool" that you have there. Impressive.

Congratulations on your decision. That's one of the blessings of having a lovely wife! It's so much better to have support and encouragement - and a little push - making those major decisions.
