    Couple from the Weekend

Had a little time on my hands while in Western New York for a wedding this weekend. Here are a couple of images that I ran across while tuning up the D70 for the wedding. One is my usual stuff the other I experimented with. What you think?

I think the nostalgic feel would be better enhanced by a faded oval crop if you really feel the pic needs enhancement. I think the subtle shades of complementary colors work well on their own.
    Nice work.

Thanks for the comment Chunk. I got a new program and was just messing around with some effects and frames. I thought that there was a little too much green around the tractor and was looking for a way to keep it down a bit. I usely don't do that kind of think but got lured into it by the new program. That will teach me to listen to my wife and daughter, both said yea dad that's great. Here it is without the frame.

    OT -

I'm usually awed by your photos. So, now I have to be honest. On my monitor both of these look a little soft. I have to admit, this morning I was thinking that it's almost time to get new (eye) glasses, so maybe that's it.

I like the flower, but I think the other flower which isn't quite alive, takes away from the image itself. Hmmmm.

Now, for the 2nd one. I like this one, altho as I said, it too appears just a bit soft on my screen. Having said that, I agree with Chunk about the frame. It seems to make the image look a little overexposed in places as it draws attention to the bright spots.

Well, now that I've spoken, I guess I'll go into hiding. Just kidding.

    Re: Couple from the Weekend

Liz thanks for your honest comments, that is what I want and wouldn't expect less from you. To be honest with you I intended the tractor to be a bit soft I was messing around with different look and just didn't make it. The flower on the other hand was not intended to be soft. I am using different editing program at home where I did these two and looking at a different monitor than I'm use too, so I may have just messed up. You didn't like the two bloom that where with the yellow flower although they were what drew me to this image more that the yellow flower itself which of course was the center piece. Then if everyone always liked the same things it would be a pretty dull world wouldn't it. Thanks again for looking and commenting. I always value your comments.

    Re: Couple from the Weekend

Seriously, OT, it may be my monitor. I've been looking at my own images lately, and they seem soft - most of them. Your comment makes me wonder if it's my monitor, or even the fact I need glasses. I did think that if I could see your flower magnified, it would change the perspective (excuse the pun). It may not be soft, so unless someone else says so, don't go by me. BTW, you might consider cross-posting this on Critique and see what comments you get there. I would be interested to see.

This is certainly (as you said) personal taste.
