    Beautiful shots...

Were you using any sort of flash on the first one? I'm really curious, it's a gorgeous shot and the lighting has me spellbound.

    Some tech info

All of these were shot with the 10d, all available light. These were during the actual performances, so there were the stage lights. White balance was on the lightbulb, used the 70-200 f/4L, mostly at about f/4. The camera was balanced on a railing, next time I am taking my tripod, though.

There were four shows, and we bought tickets for the first one. Since I had to be there for the rest of them, I asked the director about shooting. I had gotten the 10d just two or three months before, so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

    Cool Stunning!

What excellent work! Congratulations Adina! I too love the first one - this and the two dancers together in that pose is stunning. I'm amazed at how good the lighting is..

Thank you.....it was worth the wait. I hope you're framing & hanging!

The studio is actually hanging and framing. I have some frames I thought I'd put some of these in for the girls room, but it's low on my list right now. Also, I had about $400 in print orders from parents, which was kind of nice. I didn't charge too much, but am going to restructure for when I do the recital (June). This is way more work than I thought it would be, going back, pulling files, resizing, all that stuff.

    Thanks for looking!

oh yeah, one of the best things about this was that because I did so much preparing, I had hardly any psing to do after the fact. Little bit of usm, but my colors were great. And I got my first "you must have a really nice camera" comment.

    These are GREAT

As I recall the 70-200 f4 doesn't have IS. Even balanced on a rail or ledge, these are hard to capture as sharp as these. Metering is perfect. Did you shoot in evaluative mode or center weighted? Very nice images.

    Beautiful

Beautiful!!! Stage lighting can sometimes be very dificult to work with, but you have done a wonderful job here. The 10D has mettered the light very well. Your compositions and croping of your images are very well done. It is easy to see why they ask for your images to showcase their performers. Now you have to learn how to charge for your work. You deserve to be compensated for the quality of images you are producing. And try to do what I did in the early years, plow every penny of photo money back into your passion. Buy more equipment or upgrade lenses and just keep firing away as much as a busy mother's schedule will allow.
