Talk about composition...This is a great example of a properly composed image....Love the colors and your stranger really takes this picture from being average to a superb photo... The expression on his face is priceless....Love it..and the motion blurr really works here as it shows a man trying to be faster that the shutter....By the way, what shutter speed did you use?

Thanks for the kind words, Javier. Really just a fortunate coincidence. Although my focus point was on the foreground doors, I was really eyeballing the entrance opening at the end of the hallway to get the right comp and angle. But as soon as I saw movement back there, I clamped down on the shutter release since I didn't know what to expect.
He was in and out of the picture in about 2 seconds. Got off 6 frames. I like the top center one too but his right arm is in an odd position.
The shutter speed was 1/20s and hand held thanks to the I.S.
I never liked to ask for a shot. I have lost some fantastic faces doing just that. What I started doing was stand 6'-8' from a wall and focus in. I would walk back and forth to the wall till I got good a judging 8', then I was ready. I crossed my arms and held the camera on top of my left arm, above the elbow. All I had to do was spot a subject, walk up to my 8' distance and press the button. Once someone committed if I had taken his photo and I told him it just went off and I had not focused it. Then shot was a good one.
Another was was using a 150 mm and shooting from a distance.
Here's one from our Blizzard a little over a week ago. Kinda felt bad stopping this guy from his back-breaking job of shoveling a foot and a half of snow from his driveway.
He paused just long enough for me to get 2 shots. Can you tell he is smiling

LOL that lady is almost mimicking the statue. Such a cool capture Roger!
That's what caught my eye at the time but only had my 1999 3 Mpx Fuji Finepix compact with me.

I agree that this is a great thread. I keep requesting that it should be a sticky, but so long as people keep contributing, it will be a sticky by default.

If she'd been looking to her left, then she'd have been mirroring the statue, which would have been even cooler
Don't know what the book was but she was oblivious to everything. Bow Street Magistrates is just behind me and there were loads of photogs/film crews waiting for someone to come out. She just carried on reading.
