    Bimmerfest Weekend Shots

    Hi all,
Thought I'd share these- comments and thoughts welcomed. I'll post a few in critique as well.
Went to santa barbara this weekend for a deal called "bimmerfest" which is essentially a bmw car show, hosted at a santa barbara bmw dealer.
over 1600 people and over 700 cars registered.
our group (baybimmerz) caravaned friday morning from the bay area, to gilroy, then on to santa barbara. we had about 80 cars with us.
saturday was the show, followed by a rally- about 200 took 101 north to just off the freeway, and back through the mountains into santa barbara again.
anyhow, with all the chaos crammed into 36 hours, i managed to run down to state street and get a few shots as well as the beach.
here are a few from the show, the rally and around town...

Jared thanks! When we pulled into the IN and Out Burger lot, this one guy summed it up best...
"dude... theres a ton of money sitting in this lot!"
Its amazing what people do to their vehicles when they have the money to spend on them.
trip was waaaay too short though. I am ready to head back for another 4 days just to tour around Santa Barbara... what an amazing place.

    Thanks again Jared

The church one is awesome! I love the angle and the positioning the frame.

I love that first one...it looks like a standard highway shot but then you realize the colors of the cars are too perfect and all the profiles and shapes of the vehicles are the same...how cool...love the flower one and the vintage green ...very nice shots.... ;)

Nat thanks! It was a mind trip to say the least.
Funny thing- out of 700 cars, Jay and I only had one twin. Jay has a 88535is they only made them two years 87 and 88... so we cruised together for a bit on the rally as well.

Wow! What a great weekend. "Bimmerfest" sounds like soooooo much fun. Your photos are really nice.....like the cars. ;)

My favorite is the first one - I love the perspective.....like Nat said - not your normal traffic.

Nice image Rebekah, but I am wondering if you have any 7-SERIES images? DAMB, I loved those 840/ 850's back in the early 90's

    Re: Bimmerfest Weekend Shots

Paul, old body style or new? Both were there I believe... I'll have to check my digital pics as well for some. My favorite was there- a 3.0 csl coupe. A cream one and a baby blue one.
Those 850s are all about the 90s excess! They were all over, but the csi, which is my favorite and more rare eluded me. There was an M5 Wagon which would be my ideal "soccer mom" car. No minivans here! Jays collection include 2 early 70's 2002tii's, he had an 88 e30 M3 but sold it for his 88 535is. I have an 88e30 325is, and we share an old beater a 528e... good for those skyrocketing gas prices. Perpeller heads we are. I definitely cant afford car payments these days so our 5 seater old bimmers are perfect for us.. and they give us an excuse to be part of bimmerfest! haha.

PS- The new shark (6 series) was there too, and such a hot ride! There were some old 6ers there as well.

OOPS... I typed 7 but was thinking 8 The 110k 7 series(750?) is a joke when you can get a slightly used ferarri at that price or a nice used rolls ;)
