Another should have had my camera moment

So we had a play date this morning. Spent and hour or so at the park with a friend. We go to leave, and when I get to the main street, I see road blocks. So I go over a few blocks. Road block. Over a little more, same thing. So I decide to go back a few blocks, and then over, figuring must be a parade or something. Nope, that's blocked off too. So I pull up and ask the guy where I can get thru, figureing if they have this much blocked off, they must know where it stops. Well, he knew, unfortunately, it was blocked off all the way out of town, so I was literally stuck in that town (we live a town over).

And why was it closed off? The president was going to be driving thru. Not stopping or anything, just racing thru at what seemed like 30 miles over the posted limit. What most likely happened was that he exited the freeway to drive down the main street of this town, and then got back on at the other side. There is no way he could have taken the side roads from where he started to where he was going, so they must have specifically exited just to do this. Granted, there were some people who were out with their lawn chairs, but not very many.

So I explained to my girls why we were stopped, and what was going on. After the motorcycle police went past, a few vans, and two or three giant Bush/Cheney buses, I tell them that's it, and we are going to continue on our way. My oldest was like " I thought we were going to see the president" So I explain to her that he was in those buses that went speeding past. She told me that it wasn't very fun, and she doesn't want to do that again.

ahhh, I heard he's supposed to be in Waukesha today.

I remember when Reagan visited West Bend. Snipers on the roofs and everything. Now whenever I see people on top of buildings I automatically think the president must be in town.

He was in Waukesha, Fond du Lac, and then Appleton. But he stopped off at a candy store, which is why the whole town was closed off.

well, I heard a little bit more about this tonight.

Apparently he stopped off to visit "The Candy Man" candy store.

I went to a play rehearsal tonight in Campbellsport, and one of the cast members told us that Bush stopped in to the company his father owns.

And I missed it all. I was in town today, too, but I missed it all.

tell him to visit IDAHO NEXT ;)

I am sure if he asked nicely a few snipers would come to greet him ;)

shutting down a town for HIM is PATHETIC

I grew up eating breakfast next to our governor, malcolm forbes, mike tyson, whitney houston, jackie onasis............ NEVER DID I SEE EVEN 1 BODY GUARD(though one was present at times)

please , our governor would shop at the local super market with only 1 state police officer who was 20 feet back in plain clothing.

    NO 1 man is worth a town's closure.....NOBODY!!!!!!!!

this country is not run by 1 man?, but by MANY men?

    When Clinton came to Miami....

...some years back for the Summit of the Americas they had two big events. One was his personal appearance at a swanky gala at the Sheraton Bal Harbour, the other a huge party on South Beach right on the ocean with open bar and free food all evening.

The two bashes were held simultaneously, which I thought was pretty smart because all the riff raff ended up staying south at the SoBe shindig with the free booze.

I actually was credentialed into both events, but I'm sure you can guess which one I ended up going to... ;)

My biggest objection was that he had to be doing at least 50 in a 30 mph zone. Just because you have lots of police escort and big bus doesn't make it any safer in a semi-residential area.

I don't see the problem, Paul. We're talking about the President of the United States. Every president gets that kind of security and rightly so. Had some been more vigilant perhaps LINCOLN and JFK might have lived well into their OLD AGE. Which reminds me, I guess even GOOD and NOTABLE presidents can be despised without merit by some. ;)

sorry, but we all know that NO AMOUNT OF SECURITY CAN SAVE a man from his own people..... read the documents on the JFK shooting in 39 years(IF they are declassified after the 75 years the law mandates) and see if I'm right.

I agree no amount of security is a 100% guarantee of survival, but it sure can improve one's chances. That's why I said PERHAPS they would have lived well into their old age rather than state it definitively.

This is an interesting read indeed–as are most other conspiracy theories. Did you notice that the web adress for this site is "jfkmurdersolved", but then the first two lines of the webpage read "Did the Bushes help to kill JFK? The question cannot be answered definitely...." Now correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the word "solved" imply that the question CAN BE ANSWERED DEFINITIVELY??? Or is that just me speculating? ;)

and lincoln..... HIS DEATH didn't affect ANY OF US TO MY KNOWLEDGE
Sure it affected people–lots of them. See http://www.socialstudieshelp.com/Lesson_36_Notes.htm as an example.

But of course, the most tragic thing is that no one will ever know what good this president could have done for our country had his life not been cut short.

    Hey Paul!

I come from a long line of Fitzgeralds. Generally an Irish name. At least ours is.

Let me share with you what else the pope said:

"...may God show mercy and forgiveness for the [now dead] authors of this horrible terror attack."

So, according to the pope the 9-11 attackers should get mercy and forgiveness but Bush should be judged?? Is it me, or does something just not seem quite right in vaticanville?

I can debate this subject, BUT this is a photo site
Yes it is, but I seriously doubt this constitutes "debate" in any formal sense of the word. It's more like just a difference in viewpoints being expressed. Hey bud, when I get started debating you'll know it!
