Dario Franchitti made it out of this one ... a lightweight E-type Jaguar at Goodwood Revival.
Also crashing that day were Sir Stirling Moss and Adrian Newey.

    Re: Post your racin wrecks

Here's one I caught last night. So far no one I've talked to has any idea how this one started. This was the last place car in a heat race, no one else near him, everyone else had already taken the checker by the time this guy entered turn 3. I was actually walking back to my golf cart when I heard the unmistakable sound of trouble and I just turned and started shooting.
Driver was fine, he was out of the car within seconds of it coming to a rest.

I was doing the 22 rider a favor he wanted a photo of himself going around that corner

I notice something not "right" in my view finder. Then it was keep shooting and get out of the way!

Old Timer, I would love to see those Buddy Baker slides. Wal mart will scan your slides for 60 cents a piece and put them on CD. I have some great shots of Dale Sr. and his Wrangler car from some Atlanta races from the 80's. But my ex has the negatives....

    Re: Post your racin wrecks

Here are some racin wrecks I just dug up from the archives as I was recataloging my photos and I have only gotten through a 10th of my photos and I already have 101,000+ photos. I think it's time to do some weeding out of stuff as well.
So here are some of them.

#1: this guy wanted some shots for his sponsors and this wasn't what he had in mind.
#2: what happens when you drive over someone elses wheel?
#3: a crash at the start of a race, note the car on the right is losing fuel....I wonder if he wants a light?...Er No!
#4: a new way to pass?

No, these are my own photos that I took at the '02 Rampage. Taken with a Minolta 9xi with I believe a Tokina 300mm 2.8 lens that I borrowed. It was a sweet setup.

I believe the guys who do the Rampage films (Freeride Entertaiment?) were in some of the same locations I was in, so it's very likely they got some of the same shots/angles.

Do you own the complete box set? Is it worth the money? Those were some awesome events. It'd be nice to see the action again.

haha, ya i would understand that...but yes i do own the complete box set, and if you missed 03-04 it is more than worth the money to get it, just for those two years...you see gracias first backflip, im not usre if they had the bender sender in 02 but its a 60 ft gap 40 ft drop that the boys made...amazing to see what they can do off things like that...well worth the money

    Re: Post your racin wrecks

closest thing I got to a wreck shot from the Daytona 500 2007. Almost all the action happened in the back stretch and when it finally did happen in front of me I did not have the right equipment to catch the shot under the lights. Overall though it was a fun race.

Here's Kurt Bucsh (A$$ H*&E) after taking out Tony Stewart around lap 153. Tony stewart was out of the race after this and Kurt returned to the race about 35 laps later

    Re: Post your racin wrecks

    Jaedon,

    Calm down

Actually TS admitted the wreck WASN"T Kurts fault, and it was obvious that TS "let off" as he almost lost it on his own, Kurt had no where to go.
Watch the replay and you see TS get loose and drop speed as he lets off the gas before Kurt is into him. TS dropped a half lane right into Kurt.
That was a boring race until the last 50 laps

Yeah I saw that on teh news after I got home and posted in a fit of rage lol.

I still hate the Bucsh brothers but at least it is now tempered by TS admitting it wasn't anybody's fault really.

Wow, some really nice shots. Racing starts this weekend and I hope to be able to catch some of the drags. However, I do have something to offer up for this thread. It's a little different, but I think you'll like it. Let me know what you think. I call it, "Going for the Bronze"!
